Ponies and fairies and quills, oh my!

A big spread of digital and traditional doodles this week! In addition to doodling my spiky little ladies this week I decided to scribble some ponies for fun. EFNW is around the corner and once again I'll be doing some work for their design team, so I'm getting back into the swing of things again -- in other words, pony doodles might become a bit more frequent in the coming months!

Concept art, sketches, and thumbnails!!!

Hey!!! Kind of a big upload this week, got a few different things here!

First off, a concept sketch/logo for the comic that I did for fun one night...semi-inspired by retro computer ads and that one Brent Rambo GIF. Also I drew the text by hand, mostly from memory!! Tried to capture that Tandy 400-era Strong Bad email font and I'm happy with the result.

Next up, just some scrap paper doodles of the cast sitting around...the theme here was mostly "how big do these guys look compare...

Finally getting to where the format and style is consistent! From here on out, we're looking at traditionally inked comics :)

I'd like to eventually get a proper scanner, but for now I'm basically taking a picture of the paper on my desk with my phone and then editing the levels manually in Clip Studio to clean up any underlying stray pencil marks. Kind of a small one again to be honest, but I'm happy with how they turned out! I think I'm at least starting to nail down their proportions a bit more, or at the very least the girls' relative heights!

Concept sketches for Hedgehog's Dilemma!

Something a little different! From time to time I'll get out some scrap paper and absent-mindedly doodle my little guys when I'm trying to shake around the ideas in my brain. I usually pick at a sheet over the course of a week or two until it fills up and then set it aside.

This here is the first full sheet I did for the comic, which I started a few days after I drew the first comic. As you can see, I was (and kind of still am, tbh) nailing down everyone's proportions and outfits a bit....

Hedgehog's Dilemma #3

Putting this one up a little early! Generally I'll try to release the Patreon preview and the "current" comic on Twitter on the same day, but I don't know how this week is looking so I'm throwing it up for y'all a little early!

As of right now, this is the only digital comic -- the next ones will return to traditional format. I wanted to give digital a try, but honestly I prefer the more fine-toothed control that I have in a physical medium! No pain, no gain, I suppose.

pop'n music

so lately i've been hooked on this game again...if you've been following me for a while then you know how much i love this game and its characters! even though i suck at pop'n music it's still one of my favorite rhythm games and maybe even one of my favorite video games in general.

experimental ponies

Kicking this page off with some unshared sketches (the one was actually briefly used in a stream announcement post but I took it down because I wasn't feeling a stream today whoops)

Most of the time when I post ponies I try to keep on model, but now and again I try to do my own thing with em. And then there's also just a couple normal sketches that I never shared publicly. I'm sure there's a lot more on my computer that I'll be tossing up here too, we'll see!

So this is happening.

I've been back and forth on this for a while now, but I think I'll go ahead and take the plunge with this thing.
