Is it me or is it getting hotter? It's 29° (84c) in my room today!
Anyway, here's a process shot, from rough to inked to coloured & shaded, of Ashlin getting her ass out of bed.
A lot of shading is going to be going on the next few weeks. My hands might burst into literal flames..! I promise it will be all worth it, I hope.

I've only tried black coffee once and it was too powerful for me. I need milk in it! Or cream if I'm feeling like the decadent Earl of Hedonisticshire.

More colouring completed! With sound effects and an ambient soundtrack, I forsee this coming together quite nicely, hopefully.
Anyway, it's getting cold again (it was actually snowing on my street today) so I hope you're all keeping warm and not freezing in the unseasonable sub-zero temperatures! I'm going to get cracking on with colouring, and shall see you soon!

I hope you're all doing well. The warm months will soon be upon us! I'm actually moving house next month so I won't be in this oven of an attic room this summer, which should add some progress to the work flow.

I'm crunching away on this shot at the moment. It's 240 frames so it's taking a while but another day and it should be done so I'll post it up here next week. Sometimes I curse myself for putting 3-4 tones of shading on everything, but compromises are for the weak! The weak, I say!

Hello, you lot!
Well, these shots are inked so I'm just starting to colour them. The rotating background animation sequence at 21 seconds in is going to be a bit of a monster to shade, I can see it now!
Thanks to Maki for loads of help with fixing up faces, shading, and character acting on these sequences earlier on in production.
Attached below is a shading guide for what I'm thinking of going for.

Hello, hello! Merry Christmas, one and all!
I've returned from the US and just got back from the family home for Christmas. Back at my place with my PC and graphics tablet and hard at work once again now!

Hello there! It's me, Paul Johnson, posting on the eve of my return to the UK!

Greetings all!
It is I, Producer Maki, and Paul OtaKing is currently visiting the US of A. I might take him to his first Waffle House tomorrow! Anyway, you all voted and now glorious postcards are being processed to be sent out ASAP.
Sometimes you just need to catch your breath after doing zero-g space maneuvers. This comes after an important scene so we're going to have some atmospheric long shots of the two ships floating in space after this one to give the viewer some breathing room. Which means a day of drawing detailed ship exteriors! Attached is the background for this shot if you to imagine yourself piloting this fine piece of machinery.

Happy November, everyone! I hope you watched some decent horror films over Halloween. I'm going to convince Maki to watch Fright Night (1985) with me in the next day or so.
Here's another deceptively quick shot that took quite some planning. Matching the face and the 3D helmet is always quite tricky. But yeah, a bit of floating in zero gravity (with some air jets at the end).

Hello there!
A deceptively quick shot that took a long time to do! There's a surprising amount of detail on that space suit, it turns out...
Maki and myself have been looking at this one and we're going to slow down the initial run at the start a bit in the final edit, to make it feel a bit more grounded (she's running in magnetic boots after all).
But yes! I hope you're all having a spooky time what with it being almost Halloween and all. They already have the Christmas stuff out...

Here's a fairly lengthy shot I've been working on (298 frames). A lot of different layers on this particular one (ships, cockpit interior, glass, etc etc) in addition to laser effects, engine glows and the like. I want to get a lot of crazy camera angles into the battle scenes so I was experimenting with fancy flypast shots here.
Main steps:
1) Rough 3D model setup
2) Line render
3) Hand drawn and animated pilot
4) Rough explosion
5) Hand drawn lasers

Here's some behind the scenes stuff for the TIE Fighter opening movie I'm doing. I couldn't just use 3D ships from the game because they don't render out as black and white lines well, so I had to model or heavily adjust my own, to make sure everything had defined edges that the filter would pick up for me to color frame by frame after. Here's another few shots I finished literally minutes ago. As before, the sound is just a placeholder, literally just the audio from the old TIE Fighter opening cutscene. It'll be re-recorded for the final thing.
I'm reworking the walk animation with Producer Maki, but here's a taster at least!

Here's some improved shots plus a few new ones I've been working on for the re-animation of the TIE Fighter opening scene of the Reimagined game mod. I'll be adding in more detail as I go... maybe more ships landing on the platform and more TIE Fighters etc. More people in the rebel control room and whatnot. That tactical table thing needs more stuff happening on it too.
