R-Type missiles (progress shot)

More R-Type remastered animation. This time I'm incorporating a 3D ship & environment with hand drawn missiles, background and shading.

You can see in the first shot how messy the missiles start off, but end up looking quite nice at the end (it's all about the movement with missiles, so really you just have to draw curved lines then add the missiles in later). R-Type Remastered

Here's a sneak peek of a new scene for the R-Type film I've been remastering whilst music/SFX have been ongoing on Streetfighter.

I always wanted to get this shot in there but at the deadlines prevented it at the time! I'll have some sweet missiles for you in a couple of days as well.

This guy is how I envision the pilots of the little red ships in R-Type (see attached pic).

Progress update for Jul, 2017.

 Hello, everyone! 

 Progress on the Bison scene is being made thanks to Zak (music) and Joey (SFX). With this, the official TIE Fighter team is back together!
 For those of you that have joined me on the past Friday livestreams on Youtube, this scene should be familiar as it features Vestman, lots of soldiers, and Bison shaking things up with some uber-smooth animation. So, when sound is done, I'll have a vertical slice scene ready to view.

Quick update

Hello everyone!

I've almost finished the animation for the current scene and I'm going into the edit booth (as it were) to get the music, SFX, voice acting etc on there. So animation livestreams will be a bit more sporadic for the next  few weeks, since there's not really any animation to do for a little bit.

After that, though, I'll have a scene to show you. I'll post the secret link and whatnot in the Patron-only feed and you can take a look and give me some feedback if you like!<...

Stadium background time-lapse (& files!)

Since some of you have been asking how I paint backgrounds, here's a fullsize one and the .psd file if you want to check out the individual layers.

I've also included my Photoshop custom brushes for rock/pebble textures and smoke. Use them to paint lots of boulders!

No livestream tonight, I'm afraid! The current scene I'm working on has loads of soldiers and 111 frames of fighting, and it's not done in time to be coloured. I'll do an extra long one next week to make up for it though!

Some rough animation

Here's a (very rough) shot of M. Bison taking out some soldiers.
Those familiar with Streetfighter V might even recognise the moves!
There will be camera pan and some impact shake on the hits on the final thing, of course. Along with a lot of nice Psycho Power glow effects.

I was chatting in the livestream and some people asked if I could share my big folder of animation reference gifs, mp4s, webms, etc. I've got examples of explosions, gunfire, fighting, mechs, energy beams, etc.    It could be quite helpful if you're wanting to make some action shots of your own, or just want to see how stylised beams and impacts work.
