Production is switching from RLD to New Cyana. The plan is to switch each update between RLD, and New Cyana, with the Rio DVD in production in the background.

The process of translating the Dress To Thrill feature into Unity has been a long one but we are FINALLY starting to see results! Anne was nice enough to assist me with the new toggle system.
In addition to updating her badass biker leathers, Anne can now select and remove certain layers and leave others on...or take it all off! This is just the beginning and there is a LOT more on the way!
Now I'm headed out for a few days. I hope you enjoy the teaser.

Video playback in RLD is now running up to and beyond a glossy-as-all-fuck 1000 fps. I know it's completely unnecessary but I just kind of want to flex a bit.
Seriously, though I would much rather have video playback take whatever we throw at it than complain the entire time like flash used to.

Nariatt beach is the furthest you can go In the current 0.1e build. Even then the area is limited to prism ridge by way of a load screen.
The New Overworld Map of New Cyana is completely accessible, soon you can walk from Nariatt Beach to any other point on the island.

One of the more useful terrain tools in Unity 2021 is the Hydraulic Erosion Kit. A fluid simulator that applies timelapse-like erosion to mountainsides. Combines with custom brushes and settings we are achieving some very interesting terrain details both above and below the ocean.

A quick look at the current version of the Sapphire monument (0.1e) and the brand new redesign (0.1f).
The side-by-side makes the improvements more obvious imo.
If you're wondering what happened to the mountain, I had to put that there because otherwise, the draw distance would fuck everything up. ANYTHING that you saw hidden by a big ugly rock in the old build is due to draw distance limitations at the time.

After a Year in development and 6 months of preproduction that single largest map/object I have ever created is nearing completion. Compare to the work which has been done so far the next phase of Texturing, Detailing, and constructing Unity optimized structures, natural features, and bringing the sprites over is going to go extremely fast. I have been learning a LOT and practicing my skills in the lab. The next step is Terrain texturing.

There are BIG changes coming for New Cyana in the next update.
I know it has been a very long time since we addressed the New Cyana/High Tail Hall project, but a LOT of work had to be completed behind the scenes regarding the code and functionality of several new tools that aided tremendously in the production of these new massive island maps.

The overworld map for New Cyana is FINALLY starting to take shape. This is a major overhaul to the area maps you are currently using in version 0.1e and will eliminate area loading screens entirely (Think more like Skyrim compared to Half Life 2)
Be aware that we are making RAPID progress on this map. Underwater elevation mapping is complete and terrestrial mapping is nearing completion.

Sorry for the silence, but there's been a LOT going on behind the scenes. Unfortunately, the bulk of it has been code dev which is not sexy and has no visuals. However, this video shows the first small step of what will become much larger updates: We have FINALLY managed to find a system that works to process and play mp4 video in-game. This is going to make things like cutscenes and in-world video possible.
