The creature gaze upon the pass
its body silently slither
it smiled as it saw the brass
finally, it was time to make it wither

Hera had arrived in the inn that she was staying with her friends. After getting out of the test room, she received a few texts. Apparently, inside the skill trial, she couldn't communicate with anyone outside.
Blue said she needed to talk to Hera a...

Announcement - Poem?
Hey everyone!
A while back, I had the idea of placing small poems/ lymerics and short verses before some chapters to give a bit of extra lore about the world. I intend to do no more than 1 per week for now, mostly because it's hard to come up with good rhymes hahaha.
However, I had the idea for this one, and it was actually supposed to be in chapter 104. Just a small glimpse of what the emperor did.
Because of that, I'm placi...

Hera cried for fifteen minutes. Now she was hugging her legs while staring at her handaxe. Peaches did its best to calm the explorer, but whatever happened in the simulation shook her.
"Talk to me, kid. What happened? Everything inside there was a simulation."
Hera sniffed, "I still killed him."
"He was already dead, kid. Whatever you did, there did not affect that."
Hera didn't take her eyes out of her handaxe, "Still, I killed a sleeping man. What does that say about...

The reception door sent Hera to what looked like a pantry. Several bags with grains and spices covered the walls of the room.
This was the point that king Gwendelan used to infiltrate the palace. Under one of the bags, there was a loose stone that lead to an underground tunnel. This was part of the emperor's escape route, and none of the soldiers knew about it.
According to the intel, there would be a human guard in the corridor outside the door, but he would go for a ...

It took Hera forty minutes to get back in the ocean. It was much easier this time. Not only she was well rested, but her muscle memory also helped a lot to move around the way she should. The centipede was turning into the easiest of the bunch. Her flashbang trick made the creatures stop moving completely while she killed it.
To deal with the sea creatures, her plan was simple. Move fast and hide. Hera realized that the longer she stayed underwater, the faster the sharks wou...

Hera needed some time to get used to her surroundings. First, it was the fact that she was in an ocean and had to swim to move. Second, the notion that she could breathe underwater. Instinctively she would hold her breath, and during the first ten minutes, she kept hurrying to the surface when she was running low on air.
Moving around in the water was a problem of its own. Hera wasn't able to move as freely as she was used to. Before rushing in, she spent around twenty minutes swi...

"Fuck!" Hera yelled, after arriving once again in the blue reception room.
"Hey, kid. Bad luck?" Peaches asked with a playful smile.
"Can you please not say that every time I get here? It's freaking me out," Hera got up, cleaning the dirt out of her clothes.
"What do you mean, kid? It's the first time you get here."
"What?!" Hera stared at the guide with wide eyes.
Peaches started laughing, "Sorry, but your face was priceless, kid."
"Don't joke like t...

Hera walked forward carefully. She was walking for around five minutes in the jungle. Finally, she found something moving. It looked like a short, hairy humanoid creature. Hera picked her tablet to look for any types of monkeys that were among her notes.
The moment the tablet screen came to light, a loud roar echoed through the jungle. Hera looked around and saw the monkeys rushing towards her. She turned around and ran, but every place she tried to hide or to run to ...

'Hello, sweetie. Thank you for worrying about me. I'm almost fine. I think.
There were some weird results with the tests they did here in the hospital, so I'll be here for a while longer.
I'm sorry for not setting up Blue's admission with the order before everything happened. I'll get on it as soon as I can have a moment.
I hope the MAZE is treating you well.
Hope we can see each other soon.'
Hera felt tears rushing down her cheeks midway through the text. Helena was wel...

Hera woke up late. For the first time in a while, she had an excellent night of sleep. Blue had sent her a text letting her know that she would be in Alex's room. It was after 11 A.M., Hera was already feeling a bit hungry. Getting up, she left the room and headed towards where her friends were. Apparently, Bonnie, Leo, and Mark had already left for their errands.
After meeting her friends, the trio grabbed a bite to eat and some supplies for the day. Hera checked her table...

The group stayed in the ruins until sundown. Mark managed to unlock his mana stat, and Bonnie was trying to explain to him how to use spells. The crafter was having some trouble understanding how to transform the formulas into magic.
Hera was talking to Alex about her role and how the assassin skills worked. It was a bit different from what Hera expected. The hide buff wasn't about making the skill more effective, but about making your body move in a way that would cause le...

The group did a round of showing off. Each of them killed a frog on their own in demonstration of their skills. Bonnie's new spell would take around 15 minutes and all the researcher's mana to make the frog go into a hibernating state. It was useful but very inefficient. If they hunted normally, they could have killed at least five frogs and already be halfway through the harvesting.
Leo's skill was a bit odd. The spikes that shoot out of his prey harmed more the area than ...

The group met up in the morning. They wanted to give Mark a warm welcome. Hera also needed to stop by the dry cleaner to get her armor. She had found a place that was open 24h, and they had experience removing the smell of frog vomit from equipment. It was expensive, but the amount she got from the toad the day before was more than enough to cover it, even after giving some to the rest of the group for helping her carry it.
In total, she had made 237 gold with the toad. Alm...

Hera stayed inside the hollow tree, listening to the toad jumping around near her. She was in the thicker part of the woods, but there were some gaps, large enough for the toad to jump into. A couple of times, Hera saw the creature jump over some trees.
As time went by, the noises became less frequent until it finally stopped. Hera waited some time to be sure the creature wasn't moving around anymore. When she felt it was enough, she used her pulse, hoping she would be able...

Hera had left the hotel a bit after sundown. She told her friends that she needed to do a role quest around the city. To avoid making them worry or Blue telling her, she wanted to come along, Hera had to hide the fact that she wanted to hunt. For the first day, she only wanted to get the feeling for it.
Before crossing the city gates, Hera checked the thread about Helena once more. The last update was that the rescue team had left the doorway city in the Qeeroni Wilds...

Hera walked into her room and locked the door behind her, placing a chair on the handle to prevent anyone from entering. She stepped inside the bathroom and turned on the shower and the sink. She took a moment to consider if that was a good idea. As far as Hera knew, there was no water shortage in the MAZE, or at least, not in this room.
She would try to be careful later. Right now, her main concern was not to be heard by anyone. Hera even turned the TV on to have mor...

Hera was watching the coverage in the coffee shop she went with Helena. There was a small set up with a couple of dozen people there. All eyes glued to the screen. They yelled when the attack began, talked about the spells, and while the tunnel opened and cheered when the wall disappeared. However, when the first of the creatures appeared, the entire shop went quiet. Even the waiters stopped working and just stared at the screen.
Watching not only the 200 members of the attack tea...

Hera woke up early in the morning, she tried to go back to sleep, but she was too anxious to calm her mind. Giving up, she looked at the time. It was only 5:30 AM. Trying to quiet her mind, she returned to her attempts to figure out Helena's spell.
After a while, the noise she was making was enough to wake up Blue. Hera apologized, but the controller had already gotten up. It was 7 AM when the duo left the hotel, grabbing some fruits to eat and heading towards the gui...

Hera was sitting on a bench while Blue kept lifting weights. She wasn't used to working out as the controller. Even though her strength was higher, the repetition was more tiresome than she expected.
She watched Blue work out while trying to regain the feeling in her arms. It felt strange to feel so tired. Hera had leveled up a few days ago. Her stamina should be higher.
"I guess I still need to practice," she mumbled to herself.
After a while, it became clear t...

"Tell me about it. It looks like we haven't seen each other in a month."

Hera and Leo reached the city gates in around half an hour. The rain frog had attempted to flee a couple of times, but it was too weakened to escape. As they were crossing over the entrance, the guards stopped the duo.
"What do you think you are doing?"
The guards blocked the entrance using their spears.
"We need to take him to a healer," Leo showed the frog in his arms.

Hera had to admit Blue had a knack for finding good spots. The bar she picked was not only in a lovely place near the guild, but the smell coming from the kitchen was otherworldly. The pub was called the Lying Apple, and being true to the name, most dishes and drinks looked as if apples were among their ingredients, but it was all just a trick. There were a great number of people in the establishment. Luckily, the group found a table just for them.

"What about the compendium? How do we access it?" Alex asked.

Hera counted the seconds ever since Bonnie disappeared behind the flames. She couldn't hear anything aside from the roaring fire. That could be a good thing, and Bonnie could be safe, but at the same time. It could mean that there was nothing left to scream.

The five flying cloths were pushing back Hera and her friends. Even after she had placed the sash, she found back in the drying rack. The elementals would zoom around the group and hit them like a whip, but the most dangerous part was when they attempted to wrap someone's head. That led the group of adventurers to stay in a tight formation.
