Hard Fightin' WW

Pursuant to my previous post where I drew a hard fightin' version of Power Girl, I present basically the same thing: Wonder Woman edition. I know that Diana is kind of an obvious choice when selecting an ENF from the DC pantheon, but she's always been my favorite and I get a little antsy when I haven't drawn her in a while. This scratches that itch nicely, but who knows for how long...

Hard Fightin' Pwr Grl

I honestly don't know what this means. I started a sketch on my iPad, basically just a pose, then I decided it was Power Girl, then I decided she was, of course, unclad. Then I put her name in the background, but that didn't seem like enough, so I added "HARD FIGHTIN'" above that, THEN I decided that she should be saying something about this hard fight she's fighting. Then I added colour. What does hard fightin' mean? What is Power Girl fighting against? Does it have something to do with the ...

The chase continues across a river. I have to admit that I don't know much about dogs and how they track things with their noses, so I don't know if that "cross a river and the dog loses your scent" thing is true or not. For the purposes of this story, though, it's not. Dogs can totally track you across water in the LegmuscleVerse. I'm really getting in my practice drawing scenery in this one. This is the first river I've ever drawn as part of a comic.

Benefit for Crime Prevention

My last ENF comic page was a little light on the "N", so once again I present a little sketch to tide you over.

Depicted here: ironic goings on at the benefit for crime prevention. I probably should have included a dialogue balloon to indicate who this young lady is, but I'm sure my imaginative readers can fill in the blanks pretty well.

The chase is on! Our heroine is just a hair's breadth away from her pursuers, but lamentably, they have her scent...or at least that of the soldier whose uniform she stole. That's very unfortunate as she will now have to dispose of it before the dog gets its scent.

I was quite happy with how the face came out on this one. Sometimes I have trouble drawing a pretty face that's also expressive, but this one went pretty smoothly. Also I hope that everyone gets that the dog can track her un...

For those of you wondering, this is what happened after Barbara's encounter with the Invisible Rogue. I don't know where Riddler came from.

Espionage is a dangerous, complex, often deadly game of deceit and cunning: and sometimes in order to win this game you have to do things you wouldn't normally do, things you aren't proud of, stuff you might hesitate tell your vicar about when he comes over for tea. Yes, the life of a spy isn't always glamour and martinis, sometimes it's down and dirty. This is one such case.

Yes, it's the first page of the first story of the Violet hiatus, hopefully you like it. It's based on a story s...

Violet Van Vyle in Opposite Day Page 12

For a super spy Violet talks to herself a lot, which is a bad habit but probably common among those who work primarily alone. She seems to be drawing a crowd now, another thing that spies shouldn't be doing, but look at it this way: while her espionage skills might be a little miscalibrated at the moment, her lingerie game is right on point!

This will be the last Violet page before I take a short hiatus from doing full comics to work on a few one offs: both for the sake of content varie...

I know my audience are sticklers when it comes to matters of verisimilitude (nothing takes one out of their ENF groove faster than factual inaccuracy) so I made sure to include a scene that addresses the question "why doesn't someone just tackle her?"

This. This is why. Plus we get another sudden stripping, so it's really all upside. Hopefully Violet will be undisturbed for the rest of her mission, although I can't guarantee that for certain.

Panic has now taken hold at Timpani Mall as Violet, having achieved her first objective, now takes a casual stroll on the way to her next. It's her right, after all: she's having what one might call an easy day at the office.

Another challenging, but fun, page to draw, mostly due to its high population. Violet's proud stride continues to be fun to draw as well. If I had more time I would show more of the wires and internal workings of the armour as it falls away, but alas certain thing...

As we all know, if you're going to infiltrate an enemy base, you have to access their security grid. Violet, being a consummate professional, knows this and has taken quick, decisive action to do so. Or so she thinks, anyway.

This page was one of the more time consuming ones in this comic, mostly due to the fact that there are a lot of naked women, in an environment that has to make structural sense in order to sell the gag. I had to do a lot of little adjustments to make sure everythi...

Our villainess has now gained access to what she believes is the secret headquarters of "SPEX." It's not, of course. It's merely an illusion concocted by a combination of augmented reality, force fields, and noise cancelling headphones. It's probably a good thing in the short run, as I think a couple of the "guards" she knocked out earlier are back up and wanting a word with her.

Well, THAT certainly was a week of pestilence and very little sleep that wiped out four days of drawing tim...

I have some kind of bug, and I'm wacked out on cold medication at the moment, so I won't be doing a detailed blurb for this page right away. I'll loop around and do it when I'm feeling better, but for now please enjoy page 7 of Violet Van Vyle without my sparkling commentary.

Herein is where we come to find the central conceit of the story to be revealed. Violet thinks she's invisible, but she is anything but. In addition, everyone around her actually is, to Violet at least, invisible. It's the exact OPPOSITE of what she wanted to happen! That's why the story is called Opposite Day!

I was pretty pleased with myself for coming up with this idea several years ago, as I was pretty sure it had never been done in an ENF conte...

Landing in what she thinks is a secluded glen not far from SPEX headquarters, Violet Van Vyle contemplates what she believes will be an easy day at the office. In reality the vapid visor has taken her to Timpani Mall: a popular shopping spot on the outskirts of Awesome City. There are several big sales events happening at Timpani today, but I doubt that Violet would be too interested in them, even if she knew they were going on.

Sadly, an innocent bystander has found herself caught up ...

Dr. Smartanov makes some inquiries about the suddenly odd behaviour of his lab assistant, Miss Roberts. Surprisingly, he's satisfied with her responses and lets her take her leave. Later, Violet speeds towards her mission in the supersonic excavator known as Shoveljet.

When I decided to make Violet Dutch I was just trying to give her a background similar to that of the Baroness, her obvious inspiration. When I went to look up some Dutch words to sprinkle into her speech, I was delighte...

Christmas Magic!

"It's better to give than to receive", or so the old chestnut goes. That may or may not be true, but I think if you asked Santa's Little Personal Assistant here, she'd tell you she may have unwittingly been too generous. She seems to have realized the mistake in her wording, though, and will probably not make this same mistake next year, and isn't incremental improvement what the holiday season is all about?

Violet's getting a break this week, but she'll be back on the penultimate day ...

Dr. Smartanov and Violet, having gone over a detailed briefing of the mission, now rejoin his assistant Roberts in the lab. Roberts is in the midst of scouring all evidence of her recent accident from the lab table, and it seems as though she's done a pretty good job of it. Unfortunately she lacked the time to recompose herself, so she will likely have to do some fast talking to quell any suspicions about her current state of half dress.

Not a lot to say about this page with regard to a...

Violet's mission isn't even underway yet, and already things seem to be off to a bad start. It would be easy to assign blame, but we cant be too hard on science or its practitioners. Even something as simple as a giant explosion can throw off the most meticulous of preparations. Hopefully there's not too much harm done, fingers crossed!

This is a silly drawing I did on my iPad I did when I got tired of working on my current digital painting project. I'm not sure what the purpose of a Nudie Cop would be, exactly, but she does seem to be effective at arresting perps. This was pretty fun to ink, I always enjoy working in monochrome as it offers a crisp, graphic quality one can't always get working in colour. In addition, I figured out how to use Procreate's perspsective ruler feature, which is also quite useful.

Heeeere we go, I guess we're doing this. For the first time in a long while, I'm doing a proper, multipanel, word ballooned, sound effected, honest-to-baby-Jesus comic again. Don't let this first page fool you, the rest of it is multipaneled AF.

This is a story concept that I've been wanting to do for a while now, but am just getting around to doing. I'll let it play out naturally, but I'm sure y'all will work out where all this is headed before the story gets around to te...

Clara's Expedition Page 7

With that, the expedition is over, with many new species documented and even more discoveries of all kinds! Rest assured that the naval vessel did have one or two woman sailors aboard who could spare a uniform for Clara, so she wasn't in the buff for the entire trip. It was a little small for her, but watcha gonna do, sailing ladies be tiny.

And as we watch the little green lizard absconding with his prize, we bid farewell to Clara's expedition. Don't worry, though, as lo...

Clara's titular expedition is coming to its conclusion, and we see our heroine having truly adapted to her surroundings. She has pried open the secrets of the jungle and assimilated them, adapting them to her own needs as few can. Now, however, wonderful as the jungle is, she seeks to leave this place and once again rejoin polite society. To that end, she is exploring the island's northernmost extermities, what will she find? Who can say?

Some of you may or may not know that I (try to) work quite a bit ahead of what is posted here on the Patreon. In the biz we call this a "buffer" and it keeps me from losing sleep, drowning myself in fear sweat, and killing various stress balls. So, as we speak I am about seven pages into the Violet Van Vyle comic, which I have wanted to do for a long time now.

A Patron by the name of David Ray jr (see, I'm getting better with names) suggested that perhaps I could post some preview mat...

Well, we all knew this was coming, the southern hemisphere has been exposed. Panties, no matter how cute, cannot survive the deep jungles of Whoan Elli unscathed. Percival is still supportive, though, even if the local wildlife seems to be at cross purposes with our daring heroine. It also cannot be overlooked that she has learned to forage in the wilds: she'll be getting her protein tonight.

Yes, after a spooky break we're back in the jungle with Clara! I'd almost forgotten what she looked like over those last couple of weeks. She's the same as ever, though: ever curious, always scientific, and ready for whatever adventure comes her way. An additional ...

I'm sure the eagle eyed among you noticed right from Jump Street how low that treat table was, and there was probably a reason for that. Well, here we are. Probably not the best thing for June's lower back to be bending like that, but it does stretch her hammies, as you can clearly see.

By the way, in case anyone missed the text post about it, I forgot page 4 so I added it to yesterday's post to avoid confusion. The link to that is here if you want to complete the story:

Halloween Treats Page 6

So it's like this: I, as an ENF artist, have trouble keeping my stories under a certain length. What should be a simple tale of, say, a housewife unwittingly losing her purple cat costume to ghosts can somehow balloon out to eight pages from a planned three. Every story I produce is two to three times longer than it should be: I am the Stephen King of ENF.

So, because Halloween is a time of giving, I have decided that rather than parcel the three remaining pages of this story out until ...
