Considering submitting something short to the Passion Fruit anthology, and I'm trying to brainstorm character designs. I wanted a girl that's vaguely reminiscent of the Prince's brother from my Prince/Knight comic concepts, but instead she ended up looking like female Lance from Voltron... Redesign for the Knight's old squad/mentors, since I moved the fat cat into the merc group. I think this works out better, because I wanted a parallel with the Prince's older brother .

I moved the large soldier cat into this mercenary group so she's no longer the Knight's mentor. I couldn't decide on the illusionist's gender, but I guess they're an illusionist, they can just change back and forth as they like lol. I'm more excited about creating illusion-based strategies during fights.

Thinking about settings for the Prince & Knight concept. Even though it has a fairy tale themed premise, I don't want it to be a generic medeival European setting. I'd like to have a whole bunch of different places for them to explore.
I picture the Knight's country as not a whimsical fantasy kingdom but more of a tech-heavy republic with electric lights and TV (idk about cell phones... might be a stretch). The Prince's country is more magic-dependent, so it probably evolved in a different...

Possible side characters? I'm hoping if I churn out a bunch of them I can work out the framework of a story between them.
I don't like typical fantasy races like elves and dwarves, nor Sexy Blue Aliens in sci-fi, but I also feel like I shouldn't restrict myself to just humans if it's a SF/F genre. So maybe this world can have Cat People, Bird People... and I guess that makes humans Ape People, lol.
