Sage followed Rocky to another location, this time they were at the side of a huge lake. The ‘water’ in the lake was another of those strange liquids, this time a nearly transparent dark green, the shade of an algae filled lake yet the same transparency as clear spring water. Sage was already used to Rocky’s attitude and didn’t even bother asking where they were or what they were going to do. He just waited for instructions and got the same orders as before, “Wait here and don...

As they began to walk through the crystal forest, Sage could hear Rocky mumbling under their breath, “Why do I have to babysit this time, did I not do a good enough job last time? That other guy died because of his own fault, not mine.”
Sage coughed loudly, trying to remind Rocky that he wasn’t here by himself and that Sage could definitely hear what he was saying. Rocky didn’t seem to get the hint as he kept on grumbling. Sage distinctly heard things like ‘sick weakling...

Sage could release his Human Seal and swim along with the current to slowly work his way back out of the whirlpool. Of course, with the Peak Master right there and him having already agreed to go, it was far too late to fight. Instead, Sage just kept his head above the water and let the spinning carry him towards the center. As he got closer he chose to avoid dizziness and purposely dove into the center of the whirlpool, getting dragged straight down like he just entered a big tube. Wit...

Eventually, Sage found his way to the Peak Master and was surprised to find that the Peak Master’s office was the complete opposite of the garish hallways. It felt like he’d walked into a bamboo forest with tall plants lining the walls and a small stream meandering through the room. The Peak Master sat behind a small circular bamboo table on a bamboo chair drinking from a bamboo cup. Before he could say a thing, the Peak Master spoke.
“Finally, you’re here. I was getting b...

“Looks like I have to be going. What are we going to do about…”
Wan Ling shook her head, “I can handle the rest. I can use the bankroll from the Casino to do most of the remodeling and changes. Go ahead.”
There wasn’t much of value inside Sage’s house apart from the Insect Shed out back so he didn’t have a problem leaving her there to keep working. The plans for the devices he’d made were all kept in his storage ring and each device was mounted in a protect...

Before Sage could even ask for help, it seemed he was recognized by Wan Ling. The girl turned her furious gaze away from her Uncle after she heard the introductions of those at the table. They were all reasonably popular Elders in the Sect, with the exception of Sage. Instead he was currently quite famous for his disastrous business launch. Normally a failing business wouldn’t be of any note, such things happened all the time. The noteworthy part was the utter failure of the launch pa...

It was an utter disaster.
Sage had greased some palms earlier and got the word out about his business to the upper class in the Servant District. He threw a big grand opening party just like he figured he was supposed to. It was only after the fact that he learned he should have done more research. He was doing everything that he thought was supposed to go into a grand opening from his perspective back on earth in the western world. This world was of course an ancient easter...

After getting rights to the land for a half century, Sage contracted assistance in refurbishing the property to his specifications. The property used to be a large tea house and was quite popular until a competing tea house down the street was opened. Eventually both of them ended up closing as neither owner knew when to stop and were far too aggressive in trying to steal business from the other. Sage chose this land because of large size and existing landscape. While it was at the outs...

After the successful water heater, Sage eventually got a few more technologies working.
As he experimented he realized how powerful material science and in turn chemistry was. So many things were taken for granted that they just couldn’t do here. Well, it’s not that they couldn’t they just used strange and exotic materials for all the things Sage was used to being done by synthetic creations. So many things were made out of different types of synthetic rubber or plasti...

This world had the technology level of an ancient civilization, mixed in with magical tools created and used by Cultivators. With their energy source being exclusive to those with great power, it meant the common folk had little to no access to them. Despite that, and unlike what many might think, basic types of plumbing were present. The common people here were very adept at digging wells and using bamboo to create pipes and plumbing. Unfortunately, that plumbing was mostly to supply w...

It had been a few years since Sage practiced any Blacksmithing and so he went directly to the task board and chose out the simplest task for a 1 star Blacksmith. Then he went to the material supply and purchased what he’d need before renting a smithy. He didn’t choose anything high level, just a basic smithy that would allow him to finish the task. Doing this simple job, forging a mortal tier saber, should get him back into practice. There were other tasks that required less forging...

The key step to any Qi Cultivation Art was circulating qi along a specific route through the meridians. Sage hadn’t quite figured out how or why, but the meridians were pretty mystical in nature and by following different pathways in the body it would transform the energy in a different manner. So far Sage saw it as a sort of chemical mixing procedure. Each of the meridian channels seemed to do something a little bit different, just like heating, agitating, or distilling might affect ...

Before, Sage was a man in a drought, thirsting for a drink. Now, he was drowning. He used to have to plan carefully and save for months in order to purchase a single technique. Now he had so many it was a struggle simply to read all their names let alone training in them. With so many moves right at his fingertips, Sage had to choose very carefully. In the past he studied every technique he could get his hands on, trying to find something that would work for him. This is definitely ...

Sage reviewed them seriously before immediately counting a few of them out. Roots of the Resolute Heart seemed quite powerful and would make an excellent swordsman, but the problem was Sage was neither a swordsman nor did he strive to be virtuous and upright. Especially after his transformation, he wasn’t naive enough to think that being a hero was the best path. Certainly if he could overcome the challenges and defeat evildoers it would mean he was quite strong, but Sage felt that he...

When the time was up the old man appeared before him again.
“Time’s up. Get out.”
It wasn’t very polite, nor did he beat around the bush. Sage thanked him for the opportunity and quickly fled before the old man got angry. Once he was back in the small cave where he had unsealed the door, Sage gave a bow towards the place he had been calling the ‘Seal Master’s Den’ and decided that was an incorrect name. Seals seemed to just be only a portion of that Master’s ...

Such an interesting name was of course not used for an uninteresting technique. Sage was amazed at the summary of the skill and had to make sure he wasn’t just remembering it wrong.
The Timeless Eyes see beyond the constraints of time. The left eye can see into the past and the right eye can see into the future.
Such a description was just too terrifying. Sage had to read more before he could even calm his rapidly beating heart down. Something like seeing the past an...

When Sage finished examining the room and before he even processed the question about of True Immortality he turned his head only in time to see the old man turn back into a little bird and flutter off. Guess that means I’m on my own. Whatever… I only have three months, I have to copy down every single stone tablet in here!

His consciousness scattered, he didn’t know where he was, who he was, or even when he was. Memories flashed by. Travelling as a caravan guard for years, never staying on one place for more than a few weeks. Opening presents under the Christmas Tree back on earth as a boy. The decades spent training in the Holy Flame Sect with little progress. Slithering through grass that seemed to stretch up to the sky as he followed the trail of a mouse. His eyes lit up by the screen of a computer m...

Sage had never really released his aura like this before. It was similar to cycling his Qi Cultivation Technique, but in reverse. Normally to train, the breathing exercise would draw in the energy of the heavens and earth. Then using the route specified by the cultivation technique take the energy gathered by breathing and circulate it along the meridians. The meridians in the body were like an unfinished circulatory system. The pathways that the blood followed were sealed and perfect. ...

After a few minutes, Sage realized his careful preparations and plans were all in vain. Nobody showed up. It seemed they were alone. On the plus side the Centipede was able to figure out the boundaries of the space tears, but it didn’t really matter as they constantly shifted. After a bit more experimentation and the loss of one Steel Silk Centipede, Sage learned that the to...

The perfectly cylindrical tunnel continued on for a few hundred feet in a perfectly straight path before there was an opening on the left side that seemed to be a staircase downwards. More curious about the straight tunnel, Sage followed it for a thousand feet before it finally came to a stop. The end of the tunnel carved in a perfect hemisphere shape. The other trick he used was a remnant of when he was younger. Instead of guiding each limb and controlling the Spirit Insect like a puppet he let the insect take over. The control he had using different scent markers was very generic and because of his practice with them he started to use the same simple commands on his linked insect. He was either completely puppeteering them or marking targets and saying ‘attack’. With some more practice he returned to the old days. In the Lang Cl...

They covered the basics for most species of animals, as well as more in depth knowledge on a few hundred of the species that were native to a specific area at a specific time. The Seal Master’s Cave. Or at least that was what Sage was calling it. The stone door had an octagon engraved upon it. As he moved closer a glowing circle appeared in mid-air in front of the door. The points of the octagon on the door lined up perfectly with the circle, but as Sage watched different shapes and symbols started to writhe and undulate within the glowing circle.

On the plus side, the Merchant was quite rich with spirit stones, gold and trade goods. Spirit Stones were the currency of Cultivators while gold was the currency of mortals. There was interplay between them, but the exchange rates were weird. Depending on where you went, you might find either a higher or lower demand for gold or spirit stones. The problem was spirit stones were consumable and completely useless to normal people while valuable to Cultivators. If a commoner got paid in S...

His sword would glow like the sun and blind his enemies, at the same time it was so hot it cut through their weapons and armor like they weren’t even there. On top of that he had a movement technique that gave him explosive speed like a shooting star. Wow, I’m jealous of such good moves.

With the ants secured safely, Sage stored the Warp Worm in his beast bag and took out another bug egg to raise another new flying mount. There was only two downsides to his plan of switching through bugs to match the situation. The first was the time and energy wasted maturing them to full size, but the main problem was that it was far easier to raise a new one from an egg than it was to link to one that was already full size. It wasn’t really much of a detriment, but it did mean he...
