There was a reason the Living Disaster couldn’t find the soul of the cobra it smashed. It hadn’t fought many creatures at the same level of power as it, but it still knew that it had to squash his soul. A Demonic Beast’s intelligence did not correlate to its tier, but as they got older and stronger, they would also get smarter. Some animals were far more intelligent than others, but unfortunately the Living Disaster was not one of them. Sage had seen its memories and knew that it had ev...

The cobra had already stopped moving, but that didn’t stop the giant tortoise. It closed the distance and lowered its massive head down like the boom of a crane. Its giant beak tore into the snake’s burned flesh. Like a bird with a worm, it was effortless for the massive monster to snip the rope-like creature into smaller chunks. It rooted around among the remains for a few moments and then let out an angry bugling noise again. It stomped its foot down upon the burned up corpse and then t...

The snake’s little spines were only a tickle against the tortoise’s thickly armored limbs. They were still somewhat resilient and the ground shifted as the huge foot pressed down. The sound of ice cracking rang out and the spines shattered beneath the inevitable descent of its huge leg and despite the uncomfortable sharpness pressing into the sole of its foot, the tortoise was quite pleased to feel that familiar squish of compressing flesh and blood. It had been quite a long time since it...

On the plus side, Sage wasn’t the only victim of the oncoming calamity. His many enemies in the area scattered like frightened rodents in the face of the giant monster’s destructive rampage. The sky turned black and soot rained down upon them. Cracks of unknown depth opened up beneath them, and worst of all the land around them turned to fire. Like a little taste of hell on earth.
Despite the fact that this wasn’t Earth, Sage still maintained his opinion of the imminent c...

He felt as if his brain was on fire, that strange burning he’d made up his own description for. On the plus side, the feeling was less extreme than the last time he’d performed this technique. Perhaps there were some channels in the mind he was opening up and it would only become easier each time he did it? Sage focused upon these as well as a few more questions to distract himself from the debilitating sensation. It built to a greater and greater intensity before disappearing entirely.

As he fled, Sage had traveled through a massive forest. Up hills and down into ravines and canyons. The ground cover had obscured his position and reduced the tortoise’s accuracy. He had to keep moving forward to prevent the other groups from catching up and taking shots at him. Unfortunately, the terrain started to change for Sage. The huge forest suddenly came to an end and spilled into a vast plains. There was no forest canopy or thick bushes to conceal him and the grass was sparse. It w...

In the Inner World it had already been many hundreds of years since he’d been to the Psychic World and captured thousands of Flares. There were many generations of people that had been born and died on the planet. Many had become Cultivators and lived that whole time, but others had no idea there was any other world out there, taking their stories to be the fantasies of the old.
Sage couldn’t enter the Inner World. He could only send his consciousness inside, and there was no way he...

Regrettably, his plan was not as effective as he hoped it would be. A few of the enemy were wounded by flying magma, but for the most part they were intact. Having caught up with him, Sage felt the number of pursuers increasing, the only problem being that they weren’t foolish enough to get tangled up with the natural disaster following him. Instead of getting killed by the giant tortoise, they just shadowed it from the sides. He’d brought this behemoth back to try and use it against them...

By the time Sage ran into Whitestaff and her disciples, the Fu Clan realized what was going on. They’d come up to the crest of a hill and the molten boulders started flying their way again. It was another tactic the giant tortoise liked to use, launching molten projectiles up near the top of a mountain or hill so that it would come rolling down towards him. Many times it even caused a large landslide. That monster seemed to enjoy making things difficult for him. He still wondered just why t...

Slowed down as he was, he could barely keep his distance from the giant monster. The fiery wasteland created in their wake made for an easy to follow trail, and despite how fast Ruanfu had been flying, he knew it was only a matter of time until his enemies caught up with him.
Maybe that’s not a bad thing.
The giant tortoise stayed on his tail, and despite not knowing why it was so fixated on him, he might still use this to his advantage. The large scale destruction that...

Just like the last time he’d been hunted, these fellows still had some sort of way to follow him. Sage had no idea any of this was going on, as he had focused completely on escaping. He thought about leaving the Soul Clone to spy upon the enemy’s movements, but last time Whitestaff had destroyed his Twin Soul quite easily and he wasn’t looking forward to a repeat performance. Even if the Soul Clone was much more powerful than the Twin Soul, he didn’t want to take the risk at such an i...

The snowy sky darkened, and a golden flash shot through the clouds. The piercing cry of an eagle echoed through the air. The black clouds were suddenly disturbed and the gentle snowfall turned into winter lightning. A golden feathered eagle covered with arcs of golden electricity swooped through the sky, much higher than the Dragoon formation in the air. The Million Scale Shell was suddenly dispelled and the Dragoons shot in every direction, pouring into the dark smoke that hid the Fu Clan, f...

Unfortunately, the enemy wasn’t foolish enough to let the Soul Clone run rampant. They quickly moved to protect their weakened friends. Various consumable items were used up. Crystals smashed, Talisman ripped, Formation Plates deployed, and Magical Armor glowed. The Cultivators of this world were not as helpless against the Shard Rifles as the psychics of that other world had been. The shards the rifles shot moved very fast and their points could punch through many things, but like all proj...

The group of drummers seemed to be enhancing the strength of their allies and Sage felt their need to retreat growing. The group with stringed instruments released physical soundwaves that cut the Dragoons apart, opening a wide hole through the Million Scale Shell. A weakness that was quickly taken advantage of by their enemies. The others that Hei Bai brought along as well as Whitestaff’s disciples rushed through the gap and wrought havoc upon the Dragoons. The half-bug people constantly s...

Having just avenged their father, the Tiankong Siblings were satisfied. Even if they were all heavily injured and ready to flee, they had accomplished their goal. At least, they thought they had.
The yellow barrier layer shattered, but the enemy they faced slowed down. They had been moving at a fevered pace to try and back up the Violet Light Sect, but they were too late. With the group already destroyed, they slowed down to catch their breath. Figuratively at least. A cultivator that c...

Sage could only agree with what Baozhai yelled out. They had to beat these violet robed fellows fast before the others broke down the barrier. If they didn’t beat them now, they could rely on their allies and the chances of them killing that old bastard would drop greatly. Sage wished to build up Lionheart Town to repay his ancestor, but as long as he was alive there was always a chance to make that happen. He could easily abandon the town, but the Tiankong Siblings meant much more to him. ...

Ruanfu screeched at the old man and a strange symbol appeared on her forehead. She suddenly became something else, her tiny body replaced by a huge feathery white wyvern. She had the beak of an eagle and feathers instead of scales, but the huge tail and long sinuous neck made it obvious she was no bird. Huge feathers shot from her wings like spears towards the man, bursting through the aura of majesty he emitted and grazing across his cheek and thigh. The snow swirled around him, making his b...

While running forward, Sage wondered what the significance of the enemies numbers was. Four groups of twenty five. What were they up to? If they were merely coming after him, arriving with smaller numbers could be explained. They might have brought only those at rank five or above to reduce casualties. Yet, that did not seem to be the case. He sensed more than a few of the enemies being in the 4th and not the 5th rank.
Sage called out to them and the Tiankong Siblings finally slowed dow...

It took a few more minutes for the bright light to fade, and at that moment, they finally saw what they were up against. An old bald man was standing outside the second layer of the Seven Layer Barrier. The orange energy barrier cast a colored hue over their vision of the old man, but it was apparent he was wearing a purple robe. He had a long narrow white goatee that hung to his chest along with two similar skinny tufts of hair that came from either end of his mustache.

Xiezi had a flat look on her face. She merely nodded her head and then rose to her feet, climbing out of the bed she’d been recuperating on.

“When we reach Golden Cricket C-,” as Sage spoke, he was interrupted by Xiezi.
“Now.”
Tujiu flew down to the ground. Sage and Xiezi appeared next to him. Sage bowed his head, “Tujiu can take you home.”

One of them was one of his backup plans.
The raw material for his Soul Spawn. An egg that could hatch into his own current body. If he died, his soul could escape and enter the egg to be reborn anew. He didn’t have many of these eggs. They took time and energy to create, and he’d have to make new ones every time he used Merge to transform into a new body. He kept one here, one in the Inner World, and another hidden in the wilderness.

The Human Seal was not really a weapon. It sealed up a creature into the form of a human. For many creatures, a human body was an upgrade. Like all seals, the extent of the seal was based upon the purity of the crux it was formed with. Using the Timeless Eyes, with enough time, Sage could form a seal with 80% strength. That meant a sealed being would have only 20% left of their original body once they were sealed. That didn’t mean that 20% of their body would still look like it...

Sage didn’t have many weapons against a spirit type enemy. When the Soul Clone was rendered helpless, he had only a few arrays and his two Heavenly Flames to rely upon. Being taken by surprise he hadn’t any opportunity to prepare any arrays, and from the situation that happened back in Lionheart Town, he wasn’t confident in using the Samsara Flame. Sage’s voice was calm and even. He wanted her to know that this was only the tip of the iceberg. There were still many trump cards he had yet to play. With his Foresight he had chosen the path of least resistance at every step. He’d lost one of his Soul Fragments, and burned the skin off his arms, but otherwise the cost had been quite low on his side. Each of her methods had been dealt with quite easily, save for that terrible aura. Working ...
