Asset: Customizable Fireball

Hello Material Viewers!

As promised, here is the project file for a customizable fireball! (Download link at the bottom of the post). It also includes 17 frames of pre-baked smoke data, so you should be able to open in Blender and start rendering immediately!

This project file will make much more sense if you've watched the fireball tutorial from last week! If you delete the bake (Cache -> Free All), you can c...

New Video: Creating a Fireball in Blender

Hey guys!

The tutorial is finally done! 🔥 Thank you so much for all the patience. I've been working on this for so long, it feels sooo good to finally be done with it! Hope you find it valuable and find room for some smoke simulations this weekend!

As for smoke simulation project files, I'll be preparing them and sharing them sometime next week (I need to relax this weekend, hehe), and also I want to try and prepare some files that work on not super high end computers too...

'Has anyone seen my Walkman?'

Hey Material Viewers!

This is a big one!

Volumetrics! Textured lighting! Two animated cameras! 15 000 dust particles with a turbulence force field! A detailed Walkman model (CC0) from Poly Haven! Crisp PBR pool texture (CC0) from ambientCG! Your GPU will never feel the same after this.

Marble Bust in the River

Hello Solid and Material viewers!

As you may have seen in the latest video, I have been experimenting with a way to create caustics in Blender using procedural textures!

The setup is a textured spot light that uses the difference between two Voronoi textures to create something that I think resembles caustics. It's very fascinating to play around with, especially when View Post

Throwback: Simulations from 2013

Hey guys!

I just found an imgur album with some old rigid body simulations (and other stuff) from 2013. You can check out the whole album here: https://imgur.com/a/LICtX. I think the purpose of the album was to explore looping animations using Blender and After Effects, so it's a combination of 2D and 3D stuff.

It could be that these GIFs are only interesting to me, but I somehow got really inspired today by redisco...

The Cube That Got Away

Dear Solid and Material viewers.

At some point in the latest tutorial, one of the cubes managed to escape.

Trust me when I say this, I am just as surprised as you to see that this could've happened in bright studio light right under my 3D cursor.

New Tutorial: Tipping Over Stacks of Cubes in Blender

Hello!

I finally got around to making a tutorial about this subject I care so much about. Rigid Body simulations are so much fun, and I hope this video could be both entertaining and educational. Looking forward to see what you'll create!

Thanks so much for the support!

What, There's Someone in There?

Good morning, Material Viewers!

From the latest tutorial, this is the scene where we layered keyframe animation on top of the physics simulation, allowing us to add more stuff to our scene after the simulation.

The technique is only briefly mentioned in the tutorial, so here is the project file for you to explore. The s...

A Heavy Sphere in Slow Motion

Greetings, Solid and Material Viewers!

Here's a scene from one of the renders in the latest tutorial.

It renders in Cycles, and should be possible to simulate on most systems. If you have a strong GPU, check out the hidden collection with extra walls to add some interesting bounce light!

This project file ended up...

Phones within phones!

Greetings, Solid and Material viewers!

In the latest tutorial where we rendered 2D icons as 3D objects in blender, we were just scratching the surface of what's possible with SVG icons!

Really secure shopping carts

Hello, material viewers!

Hope you're ready to punish your GPU today! This cinematic from the latest tutorial might hit hard in Cycles 🔥

The attached scene is from 09:09 in the latest tutorial, where we're using Arrays, Curves and Curve Modifiers to move some shopping cart icons around ...

Hello! 🤝

Oh boy!! The day has come!

Welcome to the Polyfjord Viewport Community!

Just as you can use the viewport in Blender to choose what you want to see in a 3D environment, I thought it would be terribly clever to extend that mindset to when sharing digital assets, project files, concepts and all the other stuff that won't fit on YouTube!

Please feel free to check...
