It's Terrance Dicks first original story since The Five Doctors! The Doctor chases the Timewyrm into an alternate timeline where the Nazis won World War II. There's some unfortunate implications about the Holocaust, but even then it's still miles better than the last book.

In the first book of the Virgin New Adventures, the Doctor receives a mysterious message from himself, sending him to ancient Mesopotamia to meet the warrior king Gilgamesh to hunt down a beast called the Timewyrm. He then proceeds to scold a teenage girl for expressing a desire to not be sexually molested. Yeah, the series starts kind of gross.
