COLD OPEN:
Clip of me calling Watts’ jacket ugly from Chapter 1 reaction. Watts showing up with new jacket this episode. Leave it to Watts to be super metatextually spiteful… but seriously, THAT JACKET IS FABULOUS.
INTRO / OVERALL THOUGHTS:
While this was a much slower episode than Chapter 1, it was still necessary for setting up the rest of the volume’s story. We have a clear goal, along with an undercurrent of darkne...

WARNING: If you have not seen Chapter 1 of Volume 7 yet, do not read this! It is rife with spoilers!
INTRO/OVERALL THOUGHTS:
While not the best premiere RWBY has had thus far, “The Greatest Kingdom” is a great setup for the issues within Mantle and planting seeds for future conflicts, while also throwing our characters into the fray and putting them on the path towards their new mission, and last but not least, giving us a… pleasant but unfortunat...

INTRO:
Whatever your opinions on Volume 6, most of the fandom seems to be in agreement that the best part of it all lies within the first half - most notably, Chapters 4 through 6: the Brunswick Arc. Brunswick Farms. (Volume 6 Chapter 4)
Seemingly rooted in the lore of Sleepy Hollow, when we were all first introduced to this mysterious town after the Giant Lore Dump, people went right to work on theories of what could be awaiting our heroes here. That it ...

[gen:LOCK ad]. “How so, Monica Rial? We still have no context!” [Footage stops, like VHS footage. Muffled.]Yeah, for a show that had as much star power and big money backing as it did, being produced by both Rooster Teeth Animation and Michael Jordan’s Outlier Society Productions - yes, he has a production studio, oddly enough - gen:LOCK’s marketing campaign was, uh… not the best.
Ya know, RWBY might be a mess, but it at le...

I've made some title cards for the sections of WNTARA. Lemme know what you guys think. There's also a vote for an alternate version of the Adam one, btw.

I'm currently working on title cards for the major sections of "We Need to Talk About RWBY... Again." I'm a bit torn between different versions of one I made for Adam and I need some input. What do you guys prefer?

INTRODUCTION:
Volume 1 was Innocence, Volume 2 was Maturity, Volume 3 was Fall, and Volume 5 was Choice. Volume 4’s core theme, in this strain of logic, is Grief. To deal with the pain of loss and trauma, whether that be in accepting reality and moving onward, or wallowing in the negativity and allowing it to fester til you resolve to repeat your mistakes. And for this volume in particular, it can be applied not only to the characters, but to CRWBY as well given everything they had to...

THESIS: CREATOR, AUDIENCE, & CRITIC
Creating is hard. You have an idea. You shape and sculpt that idea. And then you show that idea to the world, gambling whether people absolutely adore your work, or take the work and shove it down your [censor] as they scream “[censor] you [censor] you’re such a [censor].” And nine times out of ten, it’s a mix of these things.
But it takes an extraordinary amount of courage to put yourself out there and offer yourself up to the wor...

Yep! I'm doing a retrospective on RWBY Volume 4 on its core theme of Grief. So for now, please enjoy my psycho notes. I am tired.
Character Short:
- Ah yes. The best character short to date. What a hell of an intro to RWBY in Maya.
- We immediately start with the darker tone. A town being ravaged by Grimm. People screaming for their lives. This is the real world. This is Remnant.
- Okay but Ruby riding in on a Nevermore with her...

So I'm working on "We Need to Talk About RWBY... Again," and I had an idea.
One of my major points is that while the show is imperfect, it's still brought a lot of joy and happiness to so many people, and that outweighs any problems the show might suffer from, whether from good or bad faith criticism.
The idea is to ask people to submit their own stories as to how they got into RWBY - their honest thoughts on the show and the situation - and why they still enjoy ...

So as most of you have probably known, I've been planning on releasing a series of video essays detailing the controversies surrounding RWBY and Volume 6. However, I have decided to compress most of these issues into a single video. After this, I'll be broadening my content to video essays on media as a whole, ideally on whatever piques my interest.
So for now, please enjoy this outline I've prepared for the video. This is very much subject to change, as I literally just typed this enti...

GASP. A POST. I know, shocking.
So I 've taken the week off from YouTube because my mind is screaming from the fandom, so to tide y'all over enjoy some tidbits for a new book idea I've had: working title is Crystal Heart (Or The Girl with a Crystal Heart).
LE PREMISE
This is a fantasy story set in a world called Obsidia, completely created from glass, rock, and stone. Even the flora and fauna is made from living, mystical crystal. The only biological creatures on the plane...

- I love this cold open. Definitely sets an eerie and tense atmosphere.
- Alcoholism!
- Bartelby. I’ve heard that name before, but don’t know the stories associated with it. Gonna have to look into that.
- R.I.P. story about the silver eyes, though maybe it’s for the best. Besides, we’ll likely be getting that soon from Maria herself.
- Oh my god I love Maria. The sass of this woman. I swear, I aspire to have her confidence and attitude i...

- Though this and the previous episode have been relatively shorter than usual, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed them and felt the pacing was on-point. It seems Miles and Kerry have cut most of the filler from their scripts. A lot of the Volume 4 and especially Volume 5 chapters were only 17+ minutes because they were so bloated and padded.
- And no, this episode doesn’t have filler. It has setup. There is a fucking difference.
- Still not sure on the episode title since we’...

- Only 13 minutes. I can accept this honestly, given the last episode was 26 minutes, and this is really just an aftermath chapter.
- Poor Oscar. I know Qrow is angry, and rightfully so, but can we not take it out on the innocent boy who didn’t ask to be possessed?
- I sincerely hope they don’t take their anger out on him, because it looks from the intro like Jaune very well might.
- But wow, Qrow got further character depth and a bit of development...

- Now while taking notes I’ve already seen this episode, and… I have many feelings. But we shall carry on as usual.
- I love that humming whenever Salem appears. Honestly gives me Legend of Zelda vibes.
- Ozma instead of Ozpin, namely because of the Ozma character from the Wizard of Oz books.
- Interesting all the incarnations are voiced either by Aaron or Shannon.
- I feel it’s odd we skipped over Salem’s father, but ho...

- Okay so when I first saw this episode, I was floored. This volume is incredible thus far. It’s definitely seeming to be my favorite volume, and we’re only two episodes in.
- Though when I was recording the reaction with my boyfriend, we had a lot of technical difficulties (And him sleeping in).
- We start with Cinder, which I didn’t expect at all. I’m glad we’re not being held in suspense over whether she’s still alive, because of course she is. ...

- I love that we start on the fight scene then flash back to the station. Great way to start the volume.
- I live for Weiss skating on her glyphs. More of this please. Also HER LEGGINGS YES.

- I’m really enjoying the intro. Casey said in a Tweet that it’s called “Rising,” but I prefer to call it “Rising Like the Moon.” (lyrics here)
- But it starts very somber then goes into usual rock.
- I love the imagery in the lyrics, all revolving around nature and seemingly fate.
- Lots of foreshadowing. Firstly, we were told we’re gonna learn more about Ozpin this volume, and it looks like it’s going to make everyone even more furious...
