Hey guys, I just wanted to show you how things are going on the latest piece. As you can see, I’m almost done with the line-work, I’ve just got to overlay some panels and some speech bubbles over the top now on another layer and then it’ll be done! I figured I’d be cool to show you the piece without all of that clutter over the top first though, I’ll do the same with the coloured version too so you can get a good look at the establishing shot.

Hey guys, I just figured I’d give you a little update on the latest two page spread. I’m still adding to it before I start putting down the final lines and I’m going to add a lot of details to each building when I start with the line work, but as you can see, it’s going to be a very complex piece!

The next page is going to be a massive establishing shot two page spread looking “down” through the city following the elevator as it travels towards the colossal asteroid in the background. It’s going to be a huge piece for me to work on, so it’s going to take several days, but I’ll show a few work-in-progress shots as the project progresses.

Thanks for being patient with me there folks, I’m having some work done on the house because there’s an issue of rising dampness. I live in the fens of England, which is literally the wettest part of the country, so it’s to be expected, but it should be resolved soon. The work is interrupting my workflow a bit, but I should be able to get the colours done for this page tomorrow.

This one took a little longer than I expected, backgrounds always take soooo much longer than without. Things are progressing nicely with the story though and I can’t wait to get down into those alien markets so I can show you all the crazy alien designs and environments that I have planned, it’s going to be like Newg from issue 3 of volume 1 on steroids. For those wondering why the background is at a different angle on that bottom panel to the last post, the centre of the docks rotate because of the elevators contained in this section that lead “down” into the contra rotating asteroids.

It’s SO much easier to knock a page out when it doesn’t have backgrounds, don’t worry though, it won’t look so stark once I’ve added in all of the colours and shading.

Thanks so much for being so patient with me while I finished this behemoth of a two page spread off. Pages like this take a tremendous amount of time, but ultimately I think they’re worth it and I think they make the book worth owning when the printed edition eventually comes out later this year.
