1. In Manga Studio, I start with a very rough sketch with big fat pencils. The fat pencils force me to keep the sketch loose without getting too caught up in the details.
2. Final sketch. Now I go back and do a more detailed sketch, working out the the body, clothing, hair, and pillows.
3. Inking. I use a variable-width inking brush for the characters and a constant-width brush for hard things (the garter clips) on vector layers. I use lots of different layers for different parts, ...
"Come and lay with me and my comfy pillows...."
Here comes another coy cutie for you!
Note: I haven't ruled out working on sketches from the stream. I just wanted to do this one next.

I used perspective rules to help me align everything and fix the perspective on the sketch. It was pretty close in the rough sketch but a few things needed to be adjusted to make more sense in perspective.

To HR:
Hire a new overnight security guard for the doll factory. And do a better screening this time. We need someone who is going to take the job seriously. This was the fifth security guard we hired who left his post in the middle of his shift and never came back.
Here are the sketches from tonight's sketch stream, all from suggestions from the chat audience!
These were a lot of fun to draw and I'm definitely going to develop one or more of these into a finished work.

Thank you to everyone who joined me for the stream tonight and to all of my patrons who make this possible!

2016-08-08 01:41:39 +0000 UTC View PostOn Sunday, August 7th, 2016, at 7PM Pacific time, I'm going to do my first sketching stream for patrons! I will post the URL for the stream on Sunday.
I'll be taking suggestions for sketches from the chat and I may turn some of them into more completed works if they turn out well.
See you there!

It's such a great trick that, even at this resolution, you can't see the wires. It's all done with mirrors.

Volunteers at the show will receive a complimentary voucher for our hotel's beauty salon for the next day. Assuming you can tear yourself away from your hotel room, that is.
Here's a woman who likes what she sees and wouldn't you like to know what it is!

An alternate wallpaper to really fill your screen!

Okay, I'll be honest. I'm not always sure how to best reframe an image with a poster layout to work in a wallpaper format. I hope this will be satisfying.

At hi-res, you get even more generous portions!

Aficionados of fine dining rarely expect to see such generous portions.
And this isn't even the hottest part of the picture!

2. Next I create the chain-link fence pattern and use mesh distortion to strecth it out where the maid will be grabbing the fence.
3. Final sketch. Now I go back and do a more detailed sketch, working out the the body, clothing, and backdrop.
4. Inking. I use a variable-width inking brush for the characters...
Hi-res means a bigger fence which means no slacking off!

In this economy, you would think people would be grateful for employment but, no, you give them a nice new uniform and a steady job and all you get is slackers and whiners. At least HR is reliable.
We've reached the next milestone! Thank you all so much! This means that I'm going to start doing online streaming sketching sessions at least once a month. The first one will be early next month (and I'll still do it even if the pledge level drops below the threshold because it does that sometimes). I'll try to announce it a bit in advance.

1. In Manga Studio, I start with a very rough sketch with big fat pencils. The fat pencils force me to keep the sketch loose without getting too caught up in the details. I started with the divan and sketched the pose on top of it. With seated figures, I often find it easier to start with the furniture and drawing the characters to fit it rather than the other way around.
2. Final sketch. Now I go back and do a more detailed sketch, working out the the body, clothing, hair, and props. 2016-07-15 05:48:50 +0000 UTC View Post
