"No reason to pout, sweetie. You were so worried that you weren't properly dressed for our outing today but your pretty raincoat is keeping you nice and dry. I can't imagine what all the fuss was about."

1. First, a basic layout sketch, working out the composition, poses, and proportions.
2. Final sketch. I sketch the characters and props in full detail.
3. Inking. I use a variable-width inking brush for the character and a constant-width brush for hard things on vector layers. I use lots of different layers for different parts, which makes it easier to overdraw and erase as needed. I also went ahead and inked the shape for the eyelashes because the brush stablization in Manga Studio mak...

I finally finished my first work for this month, which I will post right after this. Unfortunately, this month I've been working much slower because something went wrong with my drawing arm and shoulder again. Thankfully, it's not as bad as the last time, when I was laid up for a whole month, but it's keeping me from being able to work for more than short periods at a time before I have to rest. It seems to be getting slowly better so I'm hoping it will clear up within a week.

1. I started with a simple thumbnail just to get the idea and basic layout down.
2. Next, I do a more formal layout sketch, working out the pose and proportions.
3. Final sketch. I sketch the characters and props in full detail.
4. Inking. I use a variable-width inking brush for the character and a constant-width brush for hard things on vector layers. I use lots of different layers for different parts, which makes it easier to overdraw and erase as needed. I also made a few simple...

Isn't it nice of this handsome fellow to help this young man have an exciting time at the dance?
You may remember this character from my very first patron-sponsored work Rockabilly Salon.

This month, I'm doing all follow-up pictures! So pick one of my past drawings and help me think of what should happen next.
Suggestions from people who join me for the stream will get first priority but, if you can't make it to the stream, please post your suggestions in the comments here and, if we run out of ideas in the stream (or if a suggestion here is just too tasty to pass up), I'll try to use some from...

2. Next I did a more final sketch to work out all the details.
