1. I start with a thumbnail to get the basic concept down on a canvas using a large pencil. This is a thumbnail so I'm not too worried about precise details, just more about getting ideas in place.
2. Next, a more formal sketch to work out the layout, pose, and proportions. I start getting some of the details roughed out and planning the composition.
3. Final sketch. I scale the canvas up to four times the size and sketch the fine detail for the characters and environment.

Are you really alone on Valentine's Day if you have 11,000 viewers, all of whom know exactly which seedy hotel room you are bound in?

Since the colors and shading were done by my partner, Jade, I'm going to talk more about other aspects of my process in more detail.
1. I start with a rough thumbnail to plan out the page. This is just one full-page panel as we see the main character being pushed back into the Auto-Tailor booth. This viewpoint, showing the character moving away from the viewer, frames the character as both going away us (signalling the end of the story) and being lost as if the character is fallin...

It's over for us but it's not over for our new doll.
Drawn based on suggestions from Cardboard2396, HinaYui, Masked, Josster, and Nekafluff.
I plan to draw some bonus art for the comic, then the cover, then make a few edits to past pages, and then I will post the complete comic here as a PDF.

1. I start with a thumbnail to get the basic concept down.
2. Next, a more formal sketch to work out the layout, pose, and proportions. I used perspective rulers to rough in the pedestal and booth.
3. Final sketch. I sketch the character in full detail.
4. Inking. I use a variable-width inking brush for the character and a constant-width brush for hard things on vector layers. I use lots of different layers for different parts, which makes it easier to overdraw and erase as ...

It may not be a traditional kissing booth but it's for a good cause - making people very happy.
