Yo, I nearly gagged on my vegan omelette watching that video clip Bobbito posted. Straight Hilario Andretti.
Anyway...pardon the hiatus...it was my birthday (great), followed by a tooth extraction and an implant, followed by a colonoscopy the next day (trash)...
I've posted a lot from 93, and here is yet another 90 mins from August of that seminal year. I actually don't have any of the other portions of the show, sadly, so this is IT.

That's right kiddies! Stretch and I hosted a pilot TV show for NY1 titled "Jello w. Fruit Cocktail" (or something like that) back in 1994 that NEVER got aired. No one's ever seen this. Period. When directing our documentary, I didn't even use any of this archive footage (shot in Stretch's East Side crib). Now . . . I'm only sharing the 2021-09-30 22:52:59 +0000 UTC

We've always been more interested in celebrating everything that happened at WKCR on Thursday nights, but despite us feeling generally ambivalent about our time at Hot 97, there were some really great moments for us at the station. In going through unlabeled/undated tapes last night, I came across this conversation that we had with Company Flow in 1997. The sometimes surreal humor that we relished during the wee hours of Thursday nights sometimes bled into Sundays, and I know we earned many s...

Hey crew,
A little while ago, I posted a chunk of our broadcast from 9/25/92. For your listening pleasure, here is the first half. Bob mentions that Run-DMC is scheduled to come up. Sadly, they did not. But Total pack does come up, and rip shit. Word to Big Bird.
Track list:
Kenny Dope - Rama Jama
K-Solo - Letterman
Showbiz & A.G. - Silence the Lambs

Helloooo Evry Bodday! (Biz voice)
I couldn’t handle posting Thursday night, but here is a 90 min tape from 1992…date unknown. The recording didn’t catch much talk, so it’s hard to pinpoint when this aired. I’ll find out one day haha! Prepping this recording to share with you guys is the first time I’ve heard this since it happened. When I hear “My fantasy,” I picture Bobbito floating in a sea of smiley emojis with a syllable meter hitting the red peaks so hard it explode...

I know it isn't Thursday and I apologize for not posting last week. Baby life is demanding, so bear with me.
This is a lovely 90 mins from September of 92. The talking was mostly paused out of the recording sadly, but the music is fresh, and I just love hearing these songs in the context of a mix show. Redman, Diamond D, Dasez Tempo, Double XX Posse, Zhigge, Brand New Heavies feat. Large Pro, MC Ren, EPMD, Showbiz & A.G., Common, Run-DMC, Beasties, King T, Pete Rock & CL Smooth,...

So…the earlier the show date, the harder it is to find audio. So please appreciate this nearly 45 mins of a show from 1991, the date of which eludes me. Being on the radio then was still completely novel and foolishly fun.
For years, we followed the reggae show, titled Reggae Riddims, and during the several years that dancehall mixed with hip-hop beats was really big in the clubs and hip-hop circles, I would often transition from the reggae show with island-flavored records, as is the...

Takin' if from the top at 1am, this recording is from a time when everything was just coming together. Unsuged artists we supported had records coming-out and the variety and quality of releases was just off the charts. It started to feel like what we were doing was so much bigger than what we had thought.
No need to run down a track list. There was just an abundance of dope.
Because I missed last Thursday, I'm dropping part 2 immediately after this.
Enjoy.

More music from 5/13/93 including tracks by Redman, Puba, Funkdoobiest, Beatnuts, Pete Rock was & CL Smooth and Method Man. Also, our boys Danny, Anthony and Casper (famous for butchering MC Lyte’s name on the air) from Collage Projects come up to drop some really, really corny jokes but also announce that Biggie Smalls will be performing at Lyricist Lounge that week.

Since 1993 seemed to hit the sweet spot, here’s another from May of that year. It starts off as a Boricua all-star affair, with Crazy Legs comes up to talk about Rock Steady being falsely associated with some criminal activities uptown and Fat Joe to world premier “Flow Joe."

Here’s over 84 minutes of mid-summer heat from July 23, 1993. For the fully authentic effect, enjoy the radio static that comes in and out. Enjoy a mix featuring tunes from Biz, Fat Joe, Akinyele, Mobb Deep, Jeru, Pete Rock & CL Smooth, Maestro Fresh Wes with Show & AG, Dr. Dre, Grimm Reaper (aka MF Grimm), Mudbones, Masta Ace and more. And lots of chit chat. Blah blah blah.
Peace, honolulu.

Hey Cadberry Crew fam...I've been on vacation so pardon the lapse in music posts. Here's a sliver from January of 1997, with a string of great tunes by Buckshot, Akinyele, Saukrates with Masta Ace and O.C., Grav, CNN, Street Smartz, L the Head Toucha, and more. The best part of this episode is seeing the lighter side of Trag and Imam, who clearly had a blast taking calls at 4am. After all, it's krunchtime, kiddies!

Hello hello hello, it’s a Thursday….aw yeah…woot woot…yeehaw!
For your listening pleasure, allow us to serve you two scoops of Stretch and Bobbito flavors from June 2nd, 1994, twenty seven years plus one day ago. We usually break you off with one side of a tape, or one part, but because you guys are so dope, here are two parts of the show. We didn’t have any superstars that night, but Kamal B. Wise of Total Pack passed through, and there’s a nice assortment of indie records ...

DMX and Shock G were huge losses, but Black Rob was more personal for us. A Harlem native who first landed on our radar when our boys CRU brought him up to WKCR, Rob was always as cool as the other side of the pillow, and underrated as an emcee and story teller. Rob came up to Hot 97 as well (can't remember if that was Stretch and Bobbito or for solo Stretch). In fact, I was the first person to play "Whoa" on the radio, having gotten it on DAT from Buckwild. Man, that record had NYC on smash....
