You may have seen this on the forums possibly, but esper is trying something with the podcast where they mix some stock footage with some filters and insert credit-y colors to create a moving looping backdrop for the show on youtube. We're not sure whether this will take off, but we figure the more places to share the better.
Any thoughts are welcome - we're also considering putting some gameplay stuff in here, but then we'd need permission from a bunch of folks each week which seems l...

A recent guest on the show asked how we always have something to say about every topic, and whether we do research in advance, so I (brandon) thought it might be interesting to discuss the sort of rhythm we've fallen into when answering questions on the show.
First of all, we definitely do not have the questions in advance so can rarely do research (frank sometimes does some on the fly). That's why you might hear us leaning on the same few games for certain examples.
In general ...

Some folks have been asking about the LCD racing game mentioned in the podcast. Here's an article brandon (that's me) wrote about the game back in the day, originally for Game Developer magazine, then later published for gamasutra.
Theoretically there was an interview about this, but danged if we can find it. Maybe it was on insert credit? maybe it was never published? It's very difficult to google!
Here's the article:

hey all!! it was brought to our attention there's no really great way to find each of the Bonus Credit episodes. oops!! each one has now been tagged as Bonus Credit, which should make finding the others a little easier. in addition I've tagged "extra material" for things we drop like Brandon's cool 105 Live playlist, and "lists" for the full write ups of our list episodes.

I (brandon) figured I'd share some stats with you after all the recent nonsense, just so you know how we're doing.
When we started the show back up last may, we were getting about 1k listeners per episode, which we thought was pretty good. toward the middle we got up to around 4k. Then about two months ago that jumped to ~7k. Now in the last month+ we've been consistently above 10k listeners per week! This is pretty great we think! And technically it may be more, because our counting m...

I (brandon) figured I'd best make this a new update just to make sure everyone sees it!
So tim has gotten in touch with Jaffe and explained he has to step away for personal reasons, but there's no bad blood between us, and if things change over on his end he may be able to come back and would generally be open to it. So for now, we're just wishing him well and hoping for the best, and carrying on over here. I'll admit it's still a bit confusing how this happened this way, but at least ...
