Weekly Update 11.13.17

Big week ahead!

First, Commissions! Starting to go through the commission requests that have come in so far. Got a few fun ones from DevArt and HF (a lot of yaoi requests this time round).  Then I realized that I totally forgot to alert my Tumblr followers that commissions were open (I always forget about Tumblr) ^^;  so I’m going to give them some extra time to submit. Lunch pg 6...

...is done!  Only one page left!  Actually, only two panels left, and then the next part of the first story arc continues.

I haven't done the math yet, but the first complete story arc will be between 40 and 50 pages.  Lots more story to tell before this first part is done, and lots more story after that.  Very excited.  Once I'm done with that, I'll be looking to get it printed properly.

Almost forgot to mention, I leave town tomorrow and won't be back till Mond...

I'm on the road all weekend (big surprise), so I want to try and get one more page out this week (so long as I don't sacrifice the quality).

Man, this comic has been a challenge.  It was originally 14 pages!  I had to cut out a lot of interesting conversation.  Sadly, as fun as a lot of it was, it didn't serve much purpose.  It didn't tell us anything we didn't know about the characters, it didn't teach us anything about bondage or S&M...

I tell ya, the writing on this particular comic has been the biggest challenge.  It started at about 14 pages, got cut down to 8, then I threw it all out and started from scratch.  This page almost got tossed too, but there are a few details about BDSM that I want to get across.  Will be interested to hear everyone's thoughts when the whole comic is done.

The next page should be up tomorrow.  I have a big weekend ahead and I want to get as much done as...

A big thanks to everyone for pointing out their concerns.  While I was working on it this weekend I ended up writing a couple extra pages delving a bit deeper into the S&M part of BDSM.  This will hopefully add more clarity to the matter and put Ellie's mind at ease (she certainly looks interested).

Weekly Update 11.6.17

A huge thanks to you guys for covering the cost of Tracy Con this weekend!  Travel, meals, and registration were all covered, and a good thing too, because this con was pretty much a bust. ...just to shake things up a bit.  There's going to be a lot of talking heads in the next four or so pages, and it's been a while since we've seen any bondage in this story.

Not sure how I feel about it, but I think it definitely adds something.  Let me know your thoughts.

Also, thanks for all the comments about the dialogue.  There's some concern about Meg saying that her job is to make the sub say "Red".  A good criticism that will be addressed on the following page...

The next couple pages is mostly the two of them chatting about stuff.  Not a lot of action.  I have an idea to make it a bit more interesting.  The rule is "show, don't tell", after all.  I may redo the first two panels of this page to make it a bit more interesting, but I'm going to wait until I get the other pages done.

I rarely use true black and white in my black and white images.  It always felt to stark, but the grays often feel muddy to me.

God, it feels great to be working on the comic again and moving forward!

Was hoping to post this last night, but my wife surprised me with dinner.  We had a fun Halloween night, kicking back on the couch to watch Coraline.  If you haven't seen Coraline, you should check it out.  It's a great movie and was perfect for Halloween!

...finally! Man, it feels like it’s been ages since I worked on a page of the main comic. It’s good to be back in action! Line art for the next page is done! Need to run some errands now, but I think we could have a finished page tonight!

Weekly Update 10.30.17

Busy week ahead as October is drawing to a close. Hope everyone has something fun planned for Halloween and that you’ve got your costumes all lined up. :)

Weekly Update 10.26.17

I'm back!  Back to fighting trim!

God, what a month it has been.  I've tried really hard not to complain (last thing anyone wants is a pity party) but damn what a month.  Family emergencies, unexpected travel, illness, illness again, more illness!  It got to the point that we were just waiting for the next disaster to strike.

But it's all over!  Everyone's fine.  I'm fine and healthy, I've got a boat load of sketches for AMAZON, scripts for two new stories, ...

I almost didn't post this.  There's a reason most of my stuff is in black and white.  Coloring has never been my strength.  It's either too bright or too muddy.  Illness has not helped.  Still sick and working on this project for longer than I care to admit 90% of the time on color.  Thought it would be a fun, easy distraction while I recovered.

Busy weekend has left me nauseous and weak. I swear, this has been the month from hell. I just want to draw and the universe has done everything in its power to stop me. Fortunately my wife is amazing.

As I mentioned, I've been sick this week, and unable to concentrate on the comic.  So I did some doodling instead.  I came up with a lot of fun images.  Who am I kidding?  I was feverish.  I came up with a lot of crazy images.  I may have to finish a few more.  It's about time you $5 patrons got some exclusives around here.

I've been sick since Monday (feeling much better now) and couldn't muster the concentration to work on the comic.  So I did some doodling and this was the result.  As you know, coloring is not my strong suit (the boots and gloves are bugging me) but all and all, a decent Halloween image.  I shall unleash it upon an unwitting public come all hallows eve, bringing one step closer to world domination!

Weekly Update 10.16.17

Last week my wife asked me what I wanted to do for my birthday (Oct. 10th). I didn’t even have to think about it; steak dinner, visit the local escape room, and to work on my comic.  A simple plan. We spent Monday evening hashing out the details.

If your not familiar with the game, it's basically the worlds largest wristwatch that does everything, including tracking your stats and weapon selection. Apparently Bethesda has a deal with Spirit Halloween store. $25 for a very convincing prop. A little Birthday gift for myself that will be a great convention accessory.
