Chapter 2 Page 2....

...Finally done!  I look forward to the day when I can just knockout thirty pages a month.  That is a thing, right?

Had to redraw the pic on the phone, but I still had the detail sketch and it's small so it didn't take terribly long.  Onto page 3, which should be a lot of fun!

Weekly Update 12.10.18...

...Another busy December weekend, but I’m back and happy to say that the next page of BLACK LABEL should be up later today. This week, I’ve got a bit of time, so I’m just going to try and knock out as much Black Label as I can (I’m way behind). Very excited to get started!

In seven days Tumblr will no longer allow NSFW material. I was thinking for a while that I would just nuke my page and make Tumblr’s user base just a little bit smaller, but I think I’m gonna hold onto it for now...

What the hell happened?...

...this past Monday as I was putting the finishing touches on chapter 2 page 1, I stepped away from my computer for a while. When I returned I’d discovered my computer had turned off (still not sure why). Fortunately everything was saved but when I tried to open the file I got the above error.

…has never been my favorite place. There’s a lot of great content and creators over there that I enjoy, but I never liked the way the page was built. Their inbox/messaging/gallery/etc. aren’t as clear or functional as DevArt (in my opinion) but then Tumblr was designed for blogging first and foremost.

Weekly Update 12.03.18...

...December has arrived, and with it one of the busiest times of the year. Already had a busy weekend of work, so I’m going to take a couple days off to relax, do some cleaning, catch up on some errands and of course...DRAW!!!

Was hoping to get some pages done this week but had trouble getting things to look the way I wanted.  Fortunately, I am never short on things to draw.  I'd actually been working on this pic for a while so I'm thrilled to finally get it done.  Tones came out a bit darker than they should have (I still haven't figured out the best settings for my Wacom), but she looks great overall.  Very happy with her.  Going to look good as a chapter book...

...frustrated with the slow progress of page 1 I decided I needed to get my drawing hand back in gear (that’s what happens when I don’t draw for a few days). So knocking out a quick and dirty black and white portrait of Meg in a hat. Hat took for friggin ever. Who knew. Still, looks pretty cute. Feel like I can draw again. If nothing else it’ll make a nice Instagram pic.

...I need to practice drawing guys more. I’m kinda struggling with it. Fortunately the cartoonish look should work fine for my purposes.

Amazon Initiation...

...someone asked me if I had any plans of finishing the Amazon comic, which I haven't worked on in some time.

The problem was that when I wrote Amazon I didn't have the skills to draw it.  Drawing multiple characters interacting with each other is a challenge.  When it's five or six characters...yeah, that was a bit beyond my ability at the times.  But it looks like I may be able to pull it off now. :)

Guess who got sick this weekend? Worst part was, I had to work on Saturday.  Feeling considerably better today, but I’m still running pretty slow. Say…76%. Took it easy yesterday and drew something non-Black Label, but part of another project that I have ignored for far too long. Will post it later today.

Chapter 2, Page 5...

...an artist friend showed me some tricks for making backgrounds and the various line tool tricks I can use in Clip Studio.  Made me really excited to draw to test it out on Meg's workshop space.  I have mixed feelings about the results (it looks a little too good) but it should improve with practice.

Chapter 2, Page 5...

...is pretty much done. I worked on it first because I knew I had that background to look forward to. Page needs some fixes an edits but it’s more or less done.

I take off tomorrow for Thanksgiving but I’ll try to post it before I go. Was planning to wait till the first four pages are done, but you guys deserve some love. :)

Backgrounds...

...they take time. They also tend to look a little too good as I use the line tool a lot and the lines are a little too perfect. Funny how that happens.

I actually sat down and mapped out most of Meg’s house (which is what your supposed to do before you start a comic). It was an interesting project. Gonna do the same for Ellie’s apartment.
