...and chapter 5 starts next week! My goal is to start page 1 on Monday. This gives me time to keep working on the script and make any necessary adjustments during the week. The above comic will go up tomorrow. Just needs tones and dialogue. Wanted it done today, but writing is priority one right now. So excited to get started!

...spent most of the day writing and I think chapter 5 is ready to go! 23 pages for now but that may change. Will look at the script with fresh eyes tomorrow and if I like what I see, I’ll start laying out the pages! So excited to get back to it! In the meantime I finished the detailed sketches for another bonus comic. Will likely have it done by Saturday!

...trimmed down the script a lot. Wound up cutting most of Val’s arc. It’s bigger in scope than I’d realized and requires its own chapter. While I tighten up the script, I’ve got a couple bonus comics to work on. :)

As I mentioned before, I’m trying to sketch on paper a bit every night to cool down. Might also help me settle on what to work on. My issue has never been finding ideas to draw but deciding which idea to draw. Hope this helps and gives you something cool to look at.

The week is off to a strong start! I took a couple days off from BLACK LABEL. I was going to take the week, but I’m ready to jump into chapter 5! Really miss the structure that comes with working on a well defined project.
I’m trying to make it a point to draw with pencil and paper every evening. Should make for a good way to cool down at the end of the day as well as help me retain my drawing...

...A Productive day! Struggled to get the outlined tightened up before switching over to this image. The line art has been sitting in my computer waiting to be colored and now it has! Learned a few things. Image is a bit muddy, but the color contrast came out pretty good. Next one will be even better!

...Shall return! It's going to be a while though as I do not yet have a script, just lots of Story ideas, fun bits of business, images, and more! Planning to keep posting ideas until the script starts to take shape. For now, I'm just squaring away the character designs and color template. Color has always been difficult for me.

...took a break yesterday to read up on color theory. Not that I’m terrible at color work, it just isn’t my strong point. So I spent a lot of time selecting and experimenting with colors. Pretty happy with what I learned.

Whew…last week was rough. Sorry for the lack of updates, but I got pretty sick this weekend (not Covid). Still on the mend, but feeling better. Whatever it was, it was suspiciously similar to what I had back in December (though not as bad). My suspicion is that there was some cross contamination when I was cooking dinner, so I’ll have to give everything a good cleaning.
