Weekly Update 08.31.30...

…Good morning! A new week has started and there’s lots to do!

The dreaded plot hole has been patched up nicely, so I can finally start the next page of BLACK LABEL with confidence! Gonna be a fun one too. I also have a page of GR that is ready for inking, as well as a page from the end of Chapter 5. Lots of fun content to look forward to this week!

In comparison to the past few weeks, nothing much else is going on and that is just fine with me! I definitely prefer a boring and...

A productive weekend!...

...the plot holes have been filled! The script may need a small touch up or two, but I can now get started on the next page without worry. Next page is gonna be fun too.

The issue that I had was that Val’s arc in this chapter didn’t go anywhere and while there are a few bits involving Val that still might need some reconing, the addition of two new pages will keep things from getting any worse. This chapter has about 12 pages to go. Gonna be fun!

...there’s a dream sequence. Gonna be about 5 or 6 pages. We’re getting close to it so I got a head start today, gonna be a fun sequence! Tomorrow we start the next page of Black Label, but I’ll keep this as my warmup.

iPad update...

...I was shocked and surprised by everyone that decided to help me with the iPad purchase. The number of private donations matched with people upping their pledges to $5 actually took care of the purchase. I ordered the iPad and accessories yesterday at $1150. I purchased a refurbished 2nd gen iPad, Apple Pencil, screen cover, case and Bluetooth keyboard. Should be in mid September.

Back in business!...

...it took a while to get my drawing hand back, but once I did there was no slowing down! Slight redesign to a couple panels but lineart is nearly done and base tones are mostly finished as well. If tomorrow is as productive as today, then we’ll be looking at a new, finished page!

Dip in the pond...

...Seri is back in this weeks warm up sketch!

Took most of the day to get everything up and running but we are back in business! Tomorrow will be a regular work day and I can’t wait! Gonna keep playing with this sketch for a while to get my drawing hand back. Tomorrow is line art and tones. Let’s get this new page done! I’m thinking Wednesday if all goes well.

Weekly Update...

...whew...what a week. I hope everyone is safe and healthy.

Our local wildfire is moving away from us! We have another storm heading towards us but no lightning from it so far. Hopefully we’ll get some rain! Air quality is all over the place, but not nearly as bad as last week. I think we’re in good shape. Fingers crossed!

We are back home, safe and healthy, getting things cleaned up and put away. Hope to have my work space up and running today so I can finish the next p...

Home!...

...our apartment building was about 2 miles short of being evacuated. A lot of roads are still closed, but the fire is getting contained and is moving away from us. Also air quality went from 280 down to 98, so we’re back! Hopefully we won’t have to skip out again. Just got home. Gonna unpack a bit and set up my work space for tomorrow. What a crazy week. Can’t wait to sleep in my own bed again.

Sketching stuff...

...got to play with my friends iPad for a few minutes. Like the Wacom it’ll take getting used to, but I’ll be able to use Clip Studio (my software of choice) so that’ll make a huge difference. Also some random scribbles in my sketch book. Spent most of the day keeping busy helping out round the house. Good news is we might be able to head home tomorrow. Air quality is improving and it looks like they halted the progress of the fire north of us. Will give it another look tomorrow a...

Everything is fine...

...everyone is safe. We live in Solano County in California where there are wildfires. Our apartment is outside the evac zone, but the smoke is thick and ash is raining down, so we’re getting out. Gonna stay at a friends place until things calm down.

I don’t think there will be a new page this week. But everyone one is safe. I have all my comic gear and files just in case, but I expect we’ll be home in a few days.

...doing research, writing and housekeeping. Val has her own chapter coming up! In the meantime, finally settled on the layout. Gonna start inking. Hopefully I can start the tones tomorrow. Turning in early tonight.

Page 11 detailed sketches...

...gonna shift the panels a bit to give them a more dynamic feel. Also gonna rework the last panel a bit, but I like how it’s looking! And yes, the first 5 panels will be x-ray (that’s the plan anyway). Really hoping to knock that first panel out of the park! We’ll see how it comes together. :)

…Yo! I hope everyone had a fun and relaxing weekend!

This week’s page of BLACK LABEL is going to be a fun one! I also want to finish the detailed sketches for the next page of GR. It’s half finished, but the first half has been a real challenge. Excited to get back to it as the story is about to get very interesting!  Website is coming together and will hopefully be up next month!  Also, I came up with a fun sketch last night that’s going to make a great warm up drawin...

Warmed up...

...gonna switch over to the comic for a few hours. Hopefully I can finish the lines today and start the base tones as I go. This image will likely be done in the next day or so. I have another planned but that’ll likely have to wait till I’ve finished the detailed sketches for GR 4. :)
