King Of Heroes (231)

As Ozymandias’ barque had arrived closer to the City, Ainz and the Servants could not only notice some details about the city, but also see the facial expressions of the people standing on its walls. Guards most likely.

Contrary to Ainz's assumption, who had expected to see Ozymandias just blasting the defenses, as he flew over the walls, probably while declaring that no one could bar a Pharaoh’s way. The barque suddenly slowed down before coming to a halt just outside the city wall...

Overlord of biblical proportions: The new Three-Sided War (5)

Fafnir had lasted almost twelve seconds against Lucifer, and perhaps against another opponent, such a remark might have sounded like mockery. To last a ‘full’ twelve seconds in a fight sounded mocking to one of the most powerful inhabitants of the paranormal world, but against Sirzechs, there was no mockery in such a remark, only respect.

Respect that, however, could not change the objective reality before Ajuka’s eyes. Fafnir's mighty dragon body was torn into pieces by Sirzechs'...

So it is done: Happiness

Cinder returned to the table a few minutes later, trying with all her might not to break into a smile that seemed so out of place on the face of the notoriously strict and tough, if not brutal, RATS agent. She has to keep her reputation, after all, being part of the most odious department of the RATS, internal security.

But even with all of Cinder's self-control, she had only barely succeeded.

A moment later, Ghira, who had just seen Cinder, smiled at her and then raised an eyebro...

First peek of Babylonia (230)

As it had always happened before, Ainz experienced the sensation of being transported in space, a somewhat strange, if very specific sensation. It lasts only moments before the cozy shadow and semi-darkness changes to a bright, scorching Sun, forcing Ainz to shift his gaze. Or rather was forced to, as he was now falling, with the ground fast approaching.

"Hmmm?" Ainz remarked with interest at the unique occasion, even as gravity started pulling him down to Earth along with his Servants,...

Dohnaseek swallowed a thick glob of saliva as he stared at the back of the creature moving in front of him, trying his best to think of a way out of his current predicament. Unfortunately, no matter how hard Dohnaseek tries to think, he sees no way to escape.

Dohnaseek was not a moralist nor is he a pacifist, if he were, he would not have survived in the world of the paranormal, not to mention doing quite well among the ranks of the Fallen Angels… That is, ‘not bad’ relative to hi...

So it is done: What's next?

The hours Jonathan had set aside passed as inexorably as they always did. As the clock struck five o'clock in the evening, Jonathan was bundled into a prepared car and was driven into a restaurant that was already fully booked for the evening. There would be no other guests than the king and his family, and close friends.

Not because he was expecting to fill the whole restaurant with his guests, but simply out of a necessity for safety.

Besides, with all due respect, Jonathan didn...

So, the last poll before the Singularity

The Singularity is upon us, kinda the last one. And now there is a poll for the Chaldea and Staff chapters. How frequently should I write them? Previous Singularity I wrote 1 Chaldea chapter every 6 Singularity Chapters.  In the Singularities prior I wrote 1 Chaldea chapter every 3 chapters.  So now I ask you the same question - how frequently should I write Chaldea chapters?
The vote is, as usual, 6 days long until February 20.

Before Babylonia (229)

Ainz had a good enough time hanging out with Ozymandias… Actually, to be honest, it was not-so-great. He had spent a good deal of time with the young, insecure king, dragging him around Chaldea with him. Well, describing Ozymandias as an insecure king was perhaps the wrong word to use.

No, he was rather even the opposite. He was overconfident, to the point of almost reality-defining arrogance. Which of course clashed terribly to a reality in which his self-confidence wasn't enough to ...

The battle with Lucifer could not even be called a battle. It was not like an exchange of blows and tactical maneuvers, even if one opponent was much stronger than the other. The only thing one could call such was the word ‘massacre’.

Azazel never let false arrogance cloud his mind, among the hundreds of religions, pantheons, and mythologies, there were a thousand opponents far superior to Azazel. Not only in terms of brute strength, but also in terms of understanding magic or as an...

So it is done: Who do you want to be when you grow up?

Jonathan had been in his office for about an hour and a half, but not doing anything stately nor actually all that important. Doing the little things that should have been rightfully unworthy of a Glenn ruler. He was tidying up the teachers' schedules and minor administrative matters that’s not really something the Director of the Academy needs to be handling, like stocking up on food and the ongoing renovation of the training wing.

Though then again, as the benefit of also being the ...

So, the final team prepares for a Singularity?

So, the interludes are over and the final Singularity team is prepared. This is your last vote on this matter, so vote away.
In fact, given that the last Singularity is a special one - the 10 characters limitation looks like a perfect time to choose one of the few Servants with undiscovered Noble Phantasms to use.

Anyway, vote for Servants and 6 most voted would be chosen to be the last team of Ainz into the Singularity. Voting continues till the 2nd of February.

Interlude: Ozimandias (228)

As he left the training room after his meeting with Scáthach, Ainz could only sigh as he tried to shake off his melancholic mood, which was summarized in one simple phrase. “What has happened to my life?”

Once again another ingenious plan of the invincible great Ainz, the lord of all the secret cunning plans in the world, was revealed, already leading to an incredible result!

If only this fellow Ainz would occasionally tell his inconceivable plans to the simple Master of Chal...

As Azazel continued to pore over the documents before him, he tried his best to calm his troubled heart. If his colleagues were to see him now, they would be surprised, seeing him trying his best to concentrate on the reports of his spies and see if there was anything he might have missed in his previous read. The situation was simply that dire.

Tobio had failed to give his scheduled report after he'd gone to inspect a half-forgotten Fallen Angel base in Kuoh. In fact, he had missed mul...

So it is done: What comes after the end?

To be honest, Jonathan liked being the Director of his own Hunter Academy, although admitting it to himself made Jonathan feel a little self-conscious every time. It was a simple reason really, being a Director is such a simple job, even when it's dealing with Hunters-in-training, teenagers not really being known for not getting in trouble. When compared to his usual job as head of a government, researching the mysteries of the universe, and complex moral reasoning… It’s like day and nigh...

So, no time to choose your favourite Servant left... Final Singularity is upon us and there is a limit on amount of voting options on this site, so beware. If you don't choose your vote carefully now - you might regret it later!

So, the next chapter would be about the most voted Servant - and not - among those mentioned below. There will be 8 chapters in Chaldea in total - and after that - next Singularity... Almost final one to boot! But, that's talk for later. For now - just vote. View Post

Ainz and Medusa's ‘talk’, if it could be called that, lasted for much longer than his interactions with all his previous meetings with the new Servants. It was no surprise though, after all, in addition to his special relationship with Medusa, Ainz had simply known Medusa for longer. The new Servants, being new, Ainz simply lacked things that he could talk with them about. Discounting him calming down King Arthur, and her subsequent drunken ramblings, and Jacques future planning for a Pri...

Zeoticus Gremory usually preferred not to do paperwork.

First and foremost because he didn't like doing it. After all, wasn't that what a leader's job was? To find the right number of suitable and competent deputies, and have them work smoothly under ideal conditions, periodically distributing rewards and punishments to them according to their performance. In other words, the job of the leader is to push his own work to his subordinates.

It’s not like he was not busy – managin...

Professor Ozpin always, at least in the eyes of those who occasionally paid him a glance, looked the same. The same stature, the same manners, even the same way of dress.

Politicians drooling over the next debate, teachers cheerfully seeing off their graduating class, newly minted Hunters weeping at feeling the first bitterness of loss that came their way, but Professor Ozpin always remained immovable. In a way, almost always unchanged like a statue.

His posture might be slightly ...

Ainz's subsequent conversation with Jacques continued in a much more relaxed, friendly, even, manner. After finding the first topic of conversation, plans for the future, his conversation with the new Servant continued quite nicely.

Sirzechs Lucifer was not only the strongest Devil in history – but he was also one of the strongest beings in the world. A position that might be contested somewhat by Ajuka, who might not be as powerful in a direct fight, but was certainly no less dangerous an opponent. A fight that Sirzechs would win, if not without some great difficulty, cementing Sirzechs position as one of the strongest beings in the world. That is – generally speaking.

He was definitely not the strongest being...

Deputy Director of Internal Security for the RATS. A title that intimidated anyone she encountered in her life, whether they understood what it meant or only the imposing title made up of a string of words and a single acronym. There was something intimidating about the combination of the words Director, Security, and RATS.

Though, to be fair, even a janitor of RATS’ would probably elicit some amount of fear.
