Here's the concept art for Daphne's crest. The motto reads, 'Opulentos Fortuna Iuvat,' and translates to, 'Fortune Favors the Wealthy'.
(Yes, I know Opulentus is spelled with a u above. That's an error.)

Another update to the currently longest scene of the book. We're actually pretty near the end of this scene though, and we'll be shifting PoV after this, if briefly.

New week, new updates.
- One new scene at the end of chapter 5
- The first scene at the start of chapter 6, which is incomplete, and will probably end up being the whole chapter, since I suspect it's going to be a long one.
Note: The link goes to chapter 6, not chapter 5.

Hi all,
Yesterday, my websites all got attacked by a well known bot-net and my hosting provider shut them all down so my passwords couldn't be brute forced. My apologies if anyone couldn't get onto them.
As such, today we have two updates! Today's and yesterday's.
- New Scenes: Three
- Word Count: 2,100
- Total Project Word Count: 11,300
And we're now also so very close to the point where our hero actually arrives in the new world. Next update w...

Another two scenes for chapter three (1,100 words)
Scene one: A very short monologue cutaway.
Scene two: Alfric arrives home.
I'm quite liking the pace the story is currently clipping along at. I was worried that it would take too long for us to get somewhere with some tension, but the tension seems to be doing quite well at the moment.

I've decided that I'm going to start posting 'draft updates' rather than 'chapter releases' since many of the changes I'm making include going backwards to stuff I've done before. I'll list out the updates I'm making in bullet point form, probably with links to what's been changed.
So, for this update, we have:
- One new scene introducing Alfric's parents (1,500 words).
- One deleted scene (the info dump after the dragon scene at the start).
- And some alte...

Ladies and Gentlemen!
After the feedback from the first chapter came in, I decided I needed to back up a bit, and not try to cram so damn much world building into the very first major scene of the book. Basically everyone who read the second scene was massively confused, and that isn't acceptable. The first scene seems fine. So we're starting again from the beginning of scene two.
Multiple scenes, each introducing a core part of the story, rather than ramming it all down the reade...

Well, here we go. *Takes deep breath*. This is going to start off quite hardcore, so prepare yourself for that.
Trial by Conquest — Chapter one — Part 1/?

My apologies for the mouse clicking in the audio. I was experimenting with a new form of audio recording, which obviously still needs work.

Still working on outlines for my original fantasy works and loving the process. I've often talked about the ideal of separating prose from plot and I feel I've now found a sweet spot in that process. I'm still unsure exactly how best to communicate that process to you all, or even if that's a good idea. As far as progress tracking goes, I'm inclined to do it by index card count, even if it's not a wonderful tracking mechanism, it's still better than nothing.

It's the first week of the new year, and such, I'm resetting the weekly update counter. Better to start now rather than waiting for when I've been at this for years and start reaching into the hundreds.
This week, I'm working on the outlines for RS and my new project, which I want completed before I start on the editing/drafting.
Next Wednesday, we're going to have the next, and probably last, part of the next DP&SW chapter.
I'm still brainstorming a good way to sh...

Second to last update of the year.
Christmas time is here!
Everyone cheer!
Beer.
Also turkey, roast potatoes, and lots of time to reflect over the previous year and make plans for the upcoming one.
It also means Christmas presents, and my gift from me to you is another chapter part for DP&SW, this Sunday.
See you then!

Evening all,
Since Wednesday's publishing, I've been spending time outlining new works, which I'm very excited about, but I'm still not ready to share them, so this Sunday I'll be cracking on with another DP&SW chapter part. I've really been in a DP&SW mood lately. See you all on Sunday!

While thinking about this post I had to make a decision about whether I would do a yearly summary and reflection now, or at the end of the month. After thinking about it, I decided to do it at the end of the month (year), if only because the weekly update does sometimes, very occasionally, get skipped (I think we missed one this year).
Updates!
This Sunday, I will be publishing the final version of the next chapter of DP&SW chapter.
This Sunday, I'll also be publishing a high-l...

Evening all,
We finished the book two first draft of Heroes, Magic, and Backpacking!
This Sunday will see the release of the final chapter part for the current chapter of DP&SW.
After that we're going to be doing some serious editing. At least the first standard publishing period will be just edits (although added up those edits will probably be as long (or longer) as a whole chapter part release anyway).
Also, over the next few days I'm going to be sending out m...

It's weekly update time!
This Sunday's release will hopefully be the final chapter of the next Richard Struggle book.
This is something I can't help feeling I've said before...
Just for a point of reference, we're currently at a word count of 37,000 with one more chapter left (I swear), and quite a few scenes that I'll need to go and add in earlier in the work. When I finished the first draft of the first Novella, it was only 23,000 words. That increased to 27,000 over the course o...
