A brief post just to announce that Mafia III: Definitive Edition is looking good, and unless something unexpected comes up, it should be ready for release in a few days.
As I was saying in comments to previous posts, it is a more divisive, love-it-or-hate-it kind of game. The gameplay is probably not very inspired and the mission structure is quite repetitive, but the story is excellent and it really brings you into the world. The new, unannounced update to RDR2 that came out yesterday has made the mod unusable for some Patrons. This release is a hotfix that solves the issue. I took the opportunity to make my automatic game settings detection code more robust, so hopefully it should keep working if/when RDR2 gets updated again.

A few Patrons who have streaming utilities installed on their systems (like OBS Studio, Twitch Studio, etc.) found that RDR2 was behaving erratically in VR. We investigated the problem together, and as it turns out, those utilities silently create a D3D11 device inside every game they detect, even if you are not using them at the moment. Hi! As I kind of expected, version 1.4.0 was a bumpy ride. Many people seem to have the game running correctly in VR, with DLSS and all the bells and whistles. Hi! A short post to tell you that I'm making good progress on fixing the mod for the "update that broke all the things". I have an internal build where VR works again (and better than before: it's now possible to change graphics settings on the fly without crashing the game!), and DLSS kind of works too, although it exhibits slightly worse haloing and shimmering than TAA used to have in Stereo before I fixed it in 1.3.0-1.3.1.

As you know, the DLSS update to RDR2 has broken all mods based on ScriptHookRDR2, including mine. However, it's possible to keep playing in R.E.A.L. VR by downgrading the game, or by avoiding the update. Whichever method you use, after the downgrade you might need to run RealConfig.bat again, because the system.xml format has changed a bit in the latest build.

This is a hotfix release for a problem that was affecting some users with the previous 1.3.0: having "Fix TAA for Stereo" activated was causing severe frame rate drops, especially in town streets when several NPCs were in view.

With this release, gamepad activation and navigation of the mod overlay should finally be fixed for all users. It turns out that Steam's own hooking of the controller was interfering.
Another small change: RealConfig.bat will now create the Settings folder in case it doesn't already exist. That should solve the issue where you needed to have run the game at least once after the first installation in order for the mod settings to be effective.
