My speech at the stand with HK gathering

Firstly, I'm lucky that I have any of this, please give it a watch:

https://youtu.be/4ziy0_xSBdw

I'll explain myself. C-milk and I were down in San Diego for an ADV ride filming something, however, someone had left a comment on one of my videos letting me know that there were various gatherings around California in support of Hong Kong and since we were in the area we rode down to Balboa park to ...

Are Mail Order Asian Brides a good idea?

It's a rather unfortunate term and industry, but the idea of these websites and services that allow you to browse a catalogue and choose someone to try and start a relationship with are becoming more and more common, we agree that it's probably a bad idea to get mixed up in all that but we tell some stories in today's exclusive early release:

Open minded Chinese interviewed me and C-milk

Okay, here's the link to the article:

https://uschinatoday.org/features/2019/09/14/american-youtubers-in-china-qa-with-prozzie-and-serpentza/

Sure She spelt my surname wrong and got a few things out of sorts, but it was a pleasure to finally be interviewed by someone without a hidden agenda to attack and discredit.

We lift our spirits!

Wow, today's ADVChina release was a rather heavy one! But it's not always doom and gloom, in fact how about a ridiculous video of C-milk and I admittedly many beers in, trying out a deathtrap roller coaster at an almost abandoned and ridiculous amusement park in Vietnam!

Hope you enjoy this nonsense episode and it puts you in a better mood for t...

Early release

Friday dawns upon us and your ADVChina early release this week is a fun one even if the topic may seem a bit dry, we had fun walking around an area of Hong Kong talking about what happens to old people in China as the system in China is very different to what you may expect:

I'm sure you noticed in the above picture that I'm sitting in a pick-up truck towing a semi-wr...

It's OK to Love China!

Hey there guys, it's time for an early access (haven't done one for a while) to tomorrow's SerpentZA video:

https://youtu.be/aVrcdmVB-JE

I hope you don't mind a bit of a rant ;)

I'll also be posting the usual ADV early access for you tomorrow and it's a fun one where we talk about the "special foreign price" that you'll get as a visitor to China. As o...

Early Access: HK can protest but Mainland can't!

Good evening! I know this is a late post (I usually post the early access to Monday's ADV on Friday), but never late than never! At the very least you'll be able to get the jump and watch it tomorrow morning over a coffee before anyone else gets to :)

C-milk and I discuss how our friends and family affected by the Peer to Peer lending investment Crash in China were stopped from going to protest either through coercion or intimidation by the poli...

So I helped C-milk and Vivi film their latest video wherein they try eating the hottest Chili pepper in the world, so naturally I needed to give it a try too, I thought I'd do it as an Patreon exclusive video, enjoy the suffering!

I'll catch up with you all with a big update on Friday!

Getting into nature is a new thing for Sasha!

I've had this tradition, ever since Sasha and I became an item, and that is to make sure that every Sunday is a day that her and I spend together doing something fun and interesting, in fact we've started to tongue in cheek call Sunday "Sasha Day"

Although she's halfway through her pregnancy, it hardly shows (other than a baby bump) and she's as spritely as ever and always wanting to go off and do something new.

One thing that I found very common in ...

It's difficult to have Hobbies in China!

Before we begin! Here's your early access (yes, this time it's on time!) to Monday's ADVChina video! Some fun news is that not this Monday, but next Monday's ADVChina will be on the bikes with Prozzie, so all three of us hosting an episode which is a lot of fun, look out for and early release this coming Friday! This Monday's episode is a rather grim title but actually a pretty funny video as C-milk and I battle one of the worst hangovers in ...

A Lovely, Happy Friday to you all!

It has been a busy time! C-milk and I went to Vidcon for the first time and it was an interesting experience, we got to meet some other YouTubers and get an idea of what the American YouTube industry is all about! More importantly our Canadian friend Prozzie came over for an ADV China adventure and we rode through some of the most fantastic scenery Southern California has to offer! We filmed a few 3 way collaborative ADV episodes which we're ...

Big, Big Cultural Challenges

Not a long post today guys, but I wanted to mention briefly just how difficult it can be to have a cross-cultural marriage and relationship, even with my 14 years of living in China and understanding the language and culture very well I too face difficult challenges weekly in my relationship with Sasha.

Don't get  me wrong, there's nothing bothering me at present and I absolutely love my wife, the thing is with a baby on the way certain cultu...

Ever wanted to punch a clown?

I know it's a ridiculous concept, but "two cheats hit the clown" has been a running joke around the ADVChina office (which is basically just c-milk and myself) but every time we get accused of something ridiculous, our retort is "two cheats hit the clown!", this saying came about after we translated some Chinese hate forums online which were aimed at us and people were constantly using this bizarre phrase to describe the two of us....

We've been saying ...

Studying in the middle of the road?

This is something that really made a big impression on me, way back in 2014 I was in Hong Kong and I visited the main protest areas to observe this historic event. You see what was happening is that people would still go to work etc and then join the protests after hours around 5:30pm, but the protest sites and barriers couldn't be left unattended.

Surviving a Snakebite, Lions and Tribal Execution!

Hey there guys, I have something exciting to share with you, as you all know my parents recently visited me and although they have already returned to South Africa, I was able to get my father to sit down and record some of his African Adventures with me on camera.

A very happy Friday!

In the picture above you can see Sasha hiding behind my dad, we were at the San Diego Zoo (the best Zoo in the world), I had to take my parents to see it, especially because of my old man's history with snakes and animals, he instantly made fast friends with one of the zookeepers and we were invited to help feed the bee-eater birds, Sasha was very excited until she saw that the food for the bee-eaters was a bowl of live grubs and worms (which is why she's hid...

I was there and almost got lynched!

Good afternoon one and all! Friday is here and it couldn't have come sooner!

My love for China and my life in China has, in the past allowed me to selfishly overlook or even purposefully disregard things that happened around me, I specifically remember how insane things got during the 2012 anti-japanese riots, I was out there on the streets, I witnessed angry mobs smashing private cars (toyotas, nissans or any Japanese brand), I watched the police purpo...

An Exciting Friday!

It's an exciting day for me today but before I tell you why, let's get this week's early access video out of the way. In this week's early access we have a little bit of a rant about why we feel it's okay to judge a place through our own perspectives, I think it's high time we put this to rest and I hope you give us your opinion on the matter, here'a link to the video:

So we're finally doing it!

For a very long time I've been discussing the idea of a live show / podcast with C-milk, it's a very challenging and tough thing to pull off correctly. I don't like to do things in halves and so I've been building a powerful enough computer to do it, repurposed our old cameras (still great cameras) and have slowly been setting up the lighting etc.

Now that I'm confident that we can pull it off correctly, we've decided to begin this week, and we ha...

It's tough, but someone has to talk about it!

I honestly don't like having to talk about what's going on in Africa as far as China is concerned, I myself have a big love/hate relationship with Africa (mainly the latter to be honest). I don't ever want to live in Africa again, but I do understand Africa very well and do love and understand the good people there. I have no love for the criminals who have killed my friends or attacked my family and driven out so many of my peers, they are a certain, special...

So why do I have a photo of me drinking a beer in Japan? Simple! This week couldn't come to a faster end and I wish I was doing that right now! It's easy to time-travel in China!

That may be a funny thing to say, but every time I travel out of the big cities in China I feel as if I've travelled back in time 20 years. I recently visited Shaoguan with my wife, it's a  prefecture-level city in northern Guangdong Province and it is literally like time-travel so let's look at the good and the bad of China 20 years ago but actually today!

Rural China is where it's at!

I'm not about to sit here and talk about how much I love China or how awesome the people are or anything like that, this Friday I would like to quickly talk about the over all feeling of genuine openness and hospitality that I've experienced during my adventures through rural China

I've found it to be true almost everywhere I've travelled, the more remote and rural a place, the more hospitable and welcoming the people are and China is no exception. View Post

Growing up in Africa

Here's a picture of me and my friends on my birthday (not sure how old I was, but probably 6 or 7?) That's me second from the left, and we're holding a python. I'll set the scene, I was absolutely exhausted by the time this scene was shot, in fact we all were as we had just endured 2 days of being interrogated, chased and harassed by not only the police but also special investigative units, a SWAT team (that had busted into our hotel room three nights before) and the PLA (People's Liberation Army).
