I don't want to overuse an actress. I only have a few stills from 'Next Time You'll Know Me'. I wish I had the raw footage still. It was a fun shoot. Some good acting in that piece. I think it was the first time Michael and Victor had worked against each other in a project. Though Victor had directed Michael in a play years before.

Coin

As there are no BTS on the film 'The Coin', I never got to say, but in the film the coin in question, supposedly an ancient cursed coin, is in reality an old Roman coin. How's that for authenticity?

Uncertainty

I'm still not sure what the movie-of-the-month for October will be. I've got several choices, just a matter of mixing and matching.

Holiday

Today is a holiday in the states. And if it's yours, celebrate.

I've recovered from spending a month overseas and I'm getting down to work again. I'm putting the polish on a few scripts and looking to start casting.

Hectic!

This actress appears in 'The Coin'. She was more than an hour late to the location - she took too long to get dressed was her excuse. I was shooting back-to-back that day with another actress from that film. And just as I was about to shoot the other actress, who herself got lost and almost ditched the shoot, my doorbell rings.

So, I put actress #1 on hold and ran downstairs to shoot this actress. I shot her in a matter of minutes, paid her and sent her on her way. Then it was back upst...

New

Level 12, The Frankenstein Club, Play. These are the titles of my most recently finished scripts. The next step is to see which one I feel I can bring to screen first. I‘ll get a feeling for one script over the other, whether from a shooting style or even just a single shot that occurs to me, and I head down that rabbit hole of excitement over it.

So for now, rewrites. And let whatever energy it is draw me to the next project.

Analog

One of my favorite actors, Victor, found an old VHS tape of mine and used a digital camera to screen record some images of my then girlfriend and I. Seeing this I remembered the old VHS film I'd shot in the early 90's with him and Michael amongst the cast. I dug around in my closet and found many of the old tapes that made up this 90's movie. A Personal Favorite

'The Urn' is a personal favorite film of mine. And the actress likewise a personal favorite. I think the story is a real good horror concept. And this actress was not only fun and extremely talented, but she was very appropriate for the role.

High on my list of actresses I want to work with again. You'll find it when you're in season 11.

A Small Film

'Let Me Go' is a small film - a premise that's very simple, but hopefully very effective. I like this one more than I can say. I even changed the ratio of the image, letterboxing it. Breanna was great, Connor Green, the male lead did an outstanding job. Overall, this is one I am extremely pleased with.

Some films really bring a smile to my face. It makes my work so enjoyable.

This actress was almost in another of my films - but changed her mind.

The film we did together was the season 10 film 'Night Owl'. This film would have required nudity. She was fine with the nudity, but I guess not with the script.

That's fine. Actors are always backing out of films. Either it's the script, the money offered, or the level of nudity. I don't have any film I've just never been able to complete. But this actress was someone I really did want to work with again.

September

Next month’s movie rental, ‘Rubicon’ seems to be generating a decent amount of anticipation. And there was a lot of good word on this month’s rental, ‘Red Summer’. Nice way to ease out of summer.

Feature

Of all my films, 'The Dark Coat' has received the most speculation that it would be a great feature. I even did a sequel, 'Giallo'.

Others that made the list; 'When Last Seen Alive', 'Podcast', 'The Things They Leave Behind’ and 'Please Stand By'.

One I'd personally add is 'The Apartment at the End of the Hall'.

I don't know what the next one will be, but 'On A Dark and Stormy Night' seems to be a leading contender.

Almost

Noelle 'almost' didn't get the part. There were two other big contenders. One was a very good actress whom I'd seen in a very experimental short film (she went on to teach acting), and the other was a very...well, a very busty actress, who was really quite talented.

So why Noelle? I felt she represented more accurately the image of the techy.

Ok, it's old. I used a crappy tape camera. No external mic. Bad audio edit. But nicely framed shots! This is one of my early, early films. The lead actress was wonderful to work with. So enjoy it! And don't forget, rewards coming in just a few days! (August 2nd)

What I'm Working On

I have high hopes for this film. I'm really getting into this script. For casting, I think I need someone new.

Casting desires are always modified by the realities of who you can get. Ideally the female lead is Asian, mid 20's. It'll be interesting to see where this ends up going.

Samantha Dixon

Not a horror film, more of a mystery, I was thinking of making my film 'Finding Samantha Dixon' a special movie-of-the-month. Sort of as a one time thing, maybe at a separate tier in addition to a regular movie-of-the-month, and not to be collected in any season.

It's an early project of mine, shot as a found footage film. It's been running on Amazon for years. Some good acting in it. I've received lots of good word over the plot, which personally I really think is one of my better work...

TV

There was an old TV movie (title above) which starred Robert Culp that I always remembered. A really weird film. A lot of the look  seems to have strongly influenced 'The Thing'. And I got a chance to watch a rather crappy copy of it the other day. For me, it held up.
