Skirts and melancholy --

When I'm depressed I tend to doodle a lot of characters in dresses and skirts.

Lately it's been Julien getting the treatment.
I'm not entirely sure why a character in a flowy skirt, standing in water, and looking kind of sad is something that just comes out of depressed me.

I also miss digital painting, it's very relaxing.

We're still recovering and rebuilding from the flood and it's exhausting.

I haven't had the chance to seriously draw at all, other than little doodles, and it's very frustrating, especially since I have clients patiently waiting for me.

Everyone in my family is reaching their breaking points with all this and anger and insults are flying practically every time we all get together.

Flood evacuation

My family, our pets, and I had to evacuate or home yesterday due to severe flooding. More then three feet of water devastated my parent's home, my RV only just above the water. The town did nothing, no help in getting my elderly, diabetic, has to use a feeding tube father out of their home. No assistance has been forthcoming at all, thankfully my parents do have flood insurance but it will take weeks or even months to clean and repair from the damage. I actually started this ages ago with the intent of finishing it way before today but- life got in the way and I had to deal with a few major depressive episodes that kept me from drawing.

I don't always have access to my PC, especially when I need to help my parents in their home, so sometimes I pull out my old laptop and even older tablet and doodle a little. :>

I love Star VS the forces of evil and I think it was only an inevitability that I would draw something involving Julien and family.

I drew the kids first in my sketchbook and after drew and colored Uncle and Julien digitally. I wanted to give them tone and work with a regal color palette.

Getting back to work --

After a two week, plus a day or two, break, it's time for me to get back to commissions!

Character - Queen mother --

First drawing during my little break and it's a character concept I've been wanting to draw for a long time, Julien XII and Julienne's mother!

I head-canon that Julien the Terrible's son is the father to Uncle and Julienne, only way I can explain Julienne's lighter/orange coloration, so the darker gray/charcoal colors come from their mother.

She's a distant descendant of the Julien King's bloodline, her ancestor generations before married off to the kingdom she hails from.

Alright!

First official public commissions of 2018 and they were a ton of fun to work on!

I got to draw a character I haven't yet and got to enjoy some skimpy outfit drawing and ideas from the client. :D

My next commissions will be private and are huge works, I'll do my best to post as much as I can in between working, I still have so many Valentine ideas and haven't gotten to do any of them. ;A;

Maybe I could still work on them even after the holiday passes, that would be ok...

Aaaaah, this holiday season was very busy!

For the first time in about thirteen years I spent the whole holiday with my family and it was great!

I rushed to try and get a themed pic out, better late than never I guess considering it's now officially 2018, so we'll consider this the last pic of 2017 and hopefully the first pic of the year will be a good one! ;D
