Yay, Duane and Sette! This is going to be a pretty long scene but it was a lot of fun to let them patter at each other for a while. Reminds me of the old days *sniff*

I'm rather fond of these pages. First you get to see that Dawn's relatively okay, then you get a fun demonstration of some medical pymary, then you get a mindscrew, and then suddenly you get a naked spellwright. I feel it's a good progression!

Bastion is one of my most favourite characters to draw and to write. And maybe he's not so diabolical as everyone's flashbacks have indicated. He should probably do less foreboding posing on rooftops though, that's hell on anyone's image.

These kinds of pages with long shots and crowds always take so long o_o I'm about to start on some crowd scenes ahead in the buffer so my progress is going to slow, alas~

Pantoffel was a lot of fun to draw on this page. I feel like saddlehounds must be trained to keep their riders warm and safe when they get hurt, so she's just trying to cuddle him.

This page makes me mad hungry. I'm pretty sure those are sweet potatoes Iori's caramalizing and apparently stewed pea root is so amazing Matty is happily giving himself third degree burns trying to absorb it into his body as quickly as possible. I need a grandma to cook for me.

Conveeeenient little in-comic recap in the form of Elka's message. I was torn between using a font and writing it out, but erred on the side of legibility in the end. Centred punctuation is a fun quirk of Crescian writing, I used it in Toma's postcard home to his daughter, as well.

Well, hello, my lovelies! Let's get chapter 11 started with our title page. Any guesses who any of these strangers are?

I hope you had a wonderful two months. The break was a great help to my motivation and to the buffer too. We're going strong at 45 pages and my beta readers have been pretty positive about what they've seen, so I feel okay about this chapter. I hope you like it! We'll start off with Elka next update, and I'll write up a plot recap then too.

My old packhound Ebby died today. He made it to fifteen so he had a good, long life. His favourite things in the world were eating and beating up kids. 

Hiatus, Q&A/drawing video, and Duane and Sette Q&A!

In case you missed it on the site, I'll be taking a posting hiatus until February 15th. Please do not feel at all weird about dropping your pledge until I come back, I think it's only fair.

Lot of detail on these last two pages! Drawing Duane getting broomed was cathartic and beautiful. I feel Iori's reaction is appropriate as I'm not sure I'd ever allow even the most polite of zombies into my house, much less a rude and bigoted foreign corpse with a betailed and squeaky Mini-me. I wonder what Sette wanted him to write...

The collapsing Nevergreen panel is a good example of a comic hack shortcut. If you find yourself needing to draw something like a lot of leaves blowing off a tree or shingles coming off a building, make a new layer, set the layer effect to Stroke, and you can draw the shapes of those flying particles in a solid colour, which Photoshop will then stroke a line around. Then you can go back and shade them when you're through. Quick and cheap!

It was such a relief to get back to that orangey Ethelmikian colour scheme in the last few panels. And to do some legitimate backgrounds. Smack my face if I ever set anything in such a boring underground environment again.
