9. Preparation
I spent another thirty minutes with Daemon, giving him the various quest documents that I had generated. We discussed my plans in further detail, and he seemed to grow excited in the role and scope that he would be playing in them. He took a handful of the documents to deliver to Travelers himself, while leaving a few for me to distribute tomorrow because, he said, it would make a difference to have me personally assign those quests.
I don’t thi...

So as some of you may know, a good deal of book 3 is already written. The <<Malkios>> Tier has access to much of my rough drafts, although that practice may be changing in the future.
The $3 tier has been republished (it was hidden for a while). It now gives 3 advanced chapters and is available for a free trial. It is now called <<Irvine>>
The $5 <<Beckah>> tier will be receiving 10 chapters in advance of royal road, as w...

8. Portal Facility
The arrival of Daemon and his small horde of workers was fortunate, both in its timing, and in its ability to expand my goals. I had accomplished everything I thought that I could accomplish with the throne in Thorn March. Tarisha would recover my throne in North Shire from the dungeon in which it had been enshrined, and then it would be time to act for real.
Or, at least, that’s as far as the Traveler’s perspective was concerned. I wasn...

Yes, everyone, we have confirmed that little brother is back in the game. No we don’t know where, his location is listed as “The Recent Past.” Updates on the website in real time.

Hey everyone. Yes I’m back. Also, I figured out how to turn mentions on, so … um, you guys talk about me a lot? Or does it just seem that way? I had chat minimized 95% of the time before, but ...

Distantly, I heard a gong sound, but I paid it no mind as I left my companions behind to enter the villa where my mother convalesced after giving birth to a healthy baby boy. My little brother, whom I knew housed the spirit of my grandfather, the former king. It was a little strange to think of, and I had been considering spreading the word about this fact, but had ultimately decided to tell nobody whom I had not already shared the secret with.
A maid ans...

5. Dungeon Master I
Tarisha took charge of the new arrivals marvelously, putting my plan into action. Four of the group, including Phil and Laurant, would soon leave us to travel by horseback to North Shire. When there, they would activate their personal summoning abilities as my head constable (or deputy, as he insisted upon calling himself) and a lieutenant in my army.
“There shouldn’t be any other Travelers in this timeline yet,” she said, “But the ban...

When I had said I wanted to go back to my old room after being disconnected from my world, I had meant the version of Zhesa Castle which had been reconstructed for me in the lobby. Instead, Thomas convinced me to return to a place even older in my history. One which I only vaguely remembered. A place of magic, where nothing made sense.
Or at least it hadn’t at the time I was first here. I was older now, and far more adept at interacting wi...

So, after some thought in how to set things up the best to improve my patreon and also reduce my stress in real life, I've come up with something of a structure.
My habit of throwing my story online as soon as it's written and half proofread is going away.
While I'm currently releasing my WIP's on the $10 Malkios tier, they are WIP's. They'll be proofed and edited (and have the chapters named) before being released on royal road at a rate of 1 chapter per week. If you ...

With the Gideon Epilogue, that's it for book 2! I'm currently working on book 3, and my first draft is up to chapter 8. My WIPs are viewable if you have my $10 <<Malkios>> tier, along with some bonus content. If you don't want to pay for that, then I will be scheduling chapters to release at least 2 weeks before they appear on Royal road for my $5 <<Beckah>> tier.
I haven't set a release schedule for book 3 yet. I'm not certain that I can ...

Still writing. Still uncertain how things will shake out with availability of early access content.
At the moment, the Malkios tier has access to two exclusive WIPs. One is a prequel to the entire series that takes place on earth. The other is chapters 1-3 of book 3.
They will eventually make their way to the $5 tier, and to royal road. After proofreading and stuff. I'm not certain that I can maintain the 3day a week schedule I've managed for book 2 o...

Author's note: Okay, so this is what I was envisioning with my <<Context>> chapters. Telling parts of the main narrative from alternate points of view. I think you'll really enjoy this, but it's currently a WIP. Eventually I'll release it as a completed short story, not entirely certain of the length.
In this Chapter, we meet the real Beckah, Baby Hail, and a very nice car.

I started posting on patreon with zero clue what I was doing. I'm still doing that, but like a monkey with a typewriter I'm learning as I go.
The $3 tier remains, but no new content will be added to it as of 8/8/23. It is currently unpublished, so no new patrons can subscribe to it. Sometime in September, I intend to delete this tier entirely.
The complete book 2 is written and available to all current tiers. That content is and will remain ava...

Gideon felt better. Talking to the kid had helped. It wasn’t exactly fair, everything considered. Gideon had no business giving the kid any sort of advise, and asking the questions he’d been sent in to ask had been awkward as all hell. He uploaded his game play footage from the encounter to Heather, and then he went out of the law firm to wait for his Uber-Jon to arrive. He couldn’t afford one on his own any more, but traveling to and from Heather...

“Oh wonderful. Let all of the fools in,” grumbled the wizened old as the Orrery was sealed off by the magic of the Origin point. “They’ll blame me for this. I know they will. They’ll all roast me over a fire and make me into kebabs or something terrible.”
“What’s your name?” I asked the goblin leader.
“Marvin,” He answered. I looked at him suspiciously.
“Shut up. It’s a good name,” he said.

I need to talk about the optional content on The Quest Giver. It is canon, but it's background, worldbuilding, and alternate POV material meant to give context to the primary narrative. I shall be referring to them as <<Context>> chapters.
They will not be released in chronological order, and will require comments to put them into the timeline.
Three <<Context>> chapters are currently available on both patreon and Royal Road. All future &l...

Malkios was happy. At least, that is the closest that human emotions could adequately compare to his state. He was in context. And he was generating so much context ever since Hail ran away the other day. It was truly wonderful, because the events that Hail had inspired required no intervention from the Hailstorm system at all. All of the context generated from Malkios appearing behind the snooping players who had come to investigate the incident went st...

A/N: So, this is another short story from the POV of an NPC. If you didn't enjoy the perspective of Malkios, you might not enjoy this one either. It is from the perspective of one of the 'villains' of the story, Storm Teoran.
Like the previous interlude, I am undecided on whether or not this chapter is actually canon. It might go poof at some point. Whether or not the chapter itself is canon, it does contain some accurate...

So here's another bonus chapter that I'm submitting out of chronological order. Sorry about that, but it is a 'bonus chapter.' Regular releases are on schedule.
This chapter is a prologue from Gideon's perspective. Chronologically, it takes place shortly after the end of book 1 (in fact, a few hours after the end of Gideon's previous POV chapter). Hope you enjoy!
Gideon sat in the small office the receptionist had d...

Author’s Note: Okay, so this is weird. And I’m not sure it’s canon or not. It’s a very short story from Malkios’s perspective. If I do decide to make it canon, I’m not certain it’s going in the book, but I thought my readers online might enjoy it. If you like it, or don’t like it, let me know. Chronologically, this occurs around the time when Hail first begins experimenting with his throne.
If it puts you off, don’t worry. This...

We arrived together, my Dawn Guard and I. Of course, because that’s how things worked now. I hadn’t actually been expecting or counting on that, and neither had anyone else. They all reacted swiftly, pulling weapons and readying magic. Their response was understandable, since the policy everyone had agreed upon was that I would only use Fast Travel suddenly, like I’d just done, if it was to escape an attack from a dangerous Traveler.
“Well th...

After saying farewell to Leo, I returned to Briarton to rest for the night. In the morning, I met with Max again and inquired as to whether he had a throne tucked away somewhere for me. He did, in one of my properties. Once it was located, it was simply a matter of arriving there, attuning to the nearby nexus point, and sitting in the throne itself.
There was a position available to oversee each of the three vineyards that belonged to me personally, and I appointed Leo...

We arrived at the steward’s family’s vineyard not long after Thomas left us. Nobody thought it was strange that an administrator had come to chat with me. Tarisha did discuss his advice with me briefly.

It was about three hours before Tarisha teleported to my side using her new abilities to do exactly that. The Midnight Guard switched out with the Dawn guard, and I recognized more of these faces, since they mostly belonged to members of <Peasant’s Revenge>. Because time was of the essence, which made travel speed important, I reluctantly relaxed my request to have part of the ten person bodyguard team made up of Travelers closer to my level. And I agreed to leave Sh...

“I am curious to know what price you paid for that miracle that saved my life,” Valerio asked. We had returned to his mansion, and he was convalescing in his own bed. He had asked to see me, and then asked everyone else to leave us. An entire day had passed, and it had been the quietest day I’d experienced since returning to this world from the lobby.
“It’s nothing,” I said, scratching at the mark that Eclipse had left on my hand.

The Liecha was not poisoned. Just the brandy.
My mother was not dying. Just her husband.
Was I the target of the poison? Or was it Valerio?
It was his brandy, but he had served it to me. Had he poisoned himself, planning to take the antidote after I left, only to be caught red-handed?
No. As I examined his face, I did not believe that for a moment. He was shocked, horrified, and outraged to realize what had happen...

The group teleportation feature that went with Tarisha’s new appointment as the captain of my guard worked great. Fast Traveling itself took about twenty seconds longer than normal, likely a delay allowing my guardians to accept the prompt that appeared when I chose my destination. Our arrival was conspicuous, as the destination I had selected was one of the Nexus nodes inside the city near the Wildeheart estates. That itself wasn’t conspicuous, I’m certain that partic...
