Hello everyone,

Here's an updated version of 0.3.19 with a bunch of fixes for various issues. Patreon doesn't seem to allow bullet points, but here's the addition to the changelog:

Fixes to text issues. Thanks to Cubano & Drgong for reporting problems they found.

Removed “Ruben” from the name pool, as “Reuben” was also there. Thanks to Cubano for reporting this.

Development progress

Hi all,

Just a quick update with current progress. The stupid Innocent path is causing more delays - I ended up scripting out 3 main sub-paths for it, and this has ended up slowing things down quite a bit compared to Sophisticated & Party-girl.

I expect the release will be tomorrow. There's too much for it to be reasonable to finish tonight, but another day should easily get it done.

Female NPCs - a question

Hello everyone!

Sorry for the barrage of posts lately, but I have another question about how you want female NPCs to be implemented.

Female NPCs will have one of the 5 personalities used by all NPCs, and additionally one of the (initially) 3 character types used by female npcs only.

These will interact with each other to some extent. For example, I mentioned that you won't often get an innocent jerk, although I do plan to have selfish ones.

Inner Circle post for February

Hi there!

So, I don't normally post much about changes I'm working on until they're actually done. There's a few reasons for that - for one thing, it means I get less grief if they run into difficulties and have to be postponed from a release.

With this post, that will change a bit and I'll be going into more depth of what's coming up.

The next update will be the first step towards female NPCs. So far I've been working on chances to Newlife's inner work...

Female NPCs

I'm currently working on some of the changes to allow Female Npcs. It'll be a fairly big change, especially as just adding them to the code won't be very interesting for players until there are scenes they can actually appear in.

Help test a dev version of Newlife

Hello everyone!

I'm making a change to how Newlife is released. This is in order to deal with the longstanding problem where Newlife wouldn't use the correct custom npc directory when the execution directory was different to the one the jar was in.

Solving this problem will let me add in persistent options, which will mean I can add a way for players to customise things like font sizes - a common request from people on large resolutions.

$20 reward update

Hello everyone!

As you know, the Event Lottery reward was discontinued. The last draw was at the start of this month, so I need to either add a new $20 reward by February or remove that level completely.

As an aside, I also still don't have any good ideas for super-high level rewards. On Kickstarter and Offbeatr especially it's not uncommon for a handful of super-rich backers to make up a significant percentage of a project's funding.

Reward ideas for $20 patrons

Hello everyone!

The $20 event lottery reward is being discontinued, and I'd like to replace it with something else. This post is so people can make suggestions.

There's been some really good events from the lottery and it's led to some very fun and popular new scenes, but I want to focus more on core content voted in by voter-patrons.

Newlife 0.3.14

Hello everyone!

Newlife 0.3.14 is ready to go. The default-save-location issue a few people have reported is still not fixed - I have a solution that works in dev, but runs into problems with the build process, so I'll need to look into reworking that after the holidays. The changes needed would be a bit too convoluted to get done this week, considering various non-newlife distractions, so I'm leaving the fix for 0.3.15.

Event lottery to be discontinued.

Hi all,

As Newlife gets more complicated it's become a bigger job to add new scenes - something which is likely to continue to get worse over time. The event lottery has brought a lot of fun ideas and interesting new events, but I'm concerned that recently there hasn't been enough progress on the core content.

As a result, I've decided to discontinue the Event Lottery reward, with the last draw being in January.

Hi all,

I'm thinking of commissioning an artist to make an image for Newlife. This would replace the rather drab screenshot that's the current image on the Patreon page, and I could also use it on things like Kimochi. 

Does anyone have any artists they'd recommend I check out for that? The ones I've had a look at so far aren't doing commissions.
