Holiday Update

December is dying. I'll be back to working on Newt and Demon next Sunday. So, I've got 2 stories out of the 4 I started during December that I'll put up here. I'll do a poll to see which one you guys are interested in.

Both are Isekai litrpg. The MC is basically the same person in different scenarios. First one is a litrpg about fishing. Yeah, just fishing. He fishes. A lot. Second one is about a healer. He heals people. A lot.

Fishing story focuses almost completely on fishing an...

Major Event Poll (Will unlock for Patrons as the relevant chapter is available)

There she is! Zarali! She's been a long time coming and serves as a bit of a shoving off point for the end of this book. So, that explains Theo's transmigration and how people were sent to this world. Or does it? Not really.

So, I'm going to start working on Book 3 soon along with some super secret bonuses for the Patreon. I say 'super secret' because the moment I promise something I no longer want to do it. So, book 3 is going to have a major event on the scale of the Zarali reveal. I ...

Friday Chapter (and other things no one asked for)

Well, dang. I forgot the Xol'sa intro arc was so long. We have one more character to introduce before I run a poll for the 3rd tier patrons, which will open to other patrons once we get through the weekly releases. After that, I can write the ending for book 2 and put a pin in it.

I put Class Consultant on the back burner for now, which happens. I took the things that worked from that idea and rolled them into a different story about a traveling blacksmith. It's a system apocalypse craf...

The Newt and Demon Book 2 Cover

Finally got around to doing this cover.

A Maddening Process

Class Consultant is missing something. Maybe I'm just in a mood, but I don't think the story is working for me. This is completely normal for my writing process, though. I really have to get in and explore an idea to figure out if it's working (so, sorry if you get a few stubby stories posted here while I experiment).

So, while I'm not calling a post-mortem on the story yet, I'm going to write my thoughts on what's not working.

Nothing feels earned.

I've got...

Class Consultant - Book 1 Chapter 5

Chapter 5

Grum Battlebear

Bathral didn’t suffer from a lack of food. Vendors stretched far into the market district, selling everything from prepared meals to raw ingredients. The market district in the northern side of the city was one thing, but the high-end eateries of the southern section of the city were something to behold. Dran and Grog spent more than they should on a lavish breakfast, intent on celebrating their recent win. The Ogre still refused to let his friend go ...

Class Consultant - Book 1 Chapter 4

Chapter 4

Bathral

Dran felt something stir inside his core. He understood his core was a place where all his power was kept. From his mana to his classes, they all rested in his chest. Brim looked up at the sky with tears in his eyes, forming some kind of pact with the sun itself. The Spellscribe knew his [Scholar] class was edging towards an evolution. The moment a new paladin of the sun emerged, he would become a [Class Scholar].

Dran withdrew his tablet from his robes, ...

Class Consultant - Book 1 Chapter 3

Chapter 3

More Goo

[Ogre Mages] were one of the strangest classes in the land. They operated on a kind of anti-logic in the realm of magic. As Dran stirred from his slumber, a dream about his childhood fading away to a strange sensation, he was reminded of how strange the class was. He was stripped to his undergarments, curled in the plush armchair as the embers of the fire died. Grog, or at least the image of Grog, patrolled the edge of the spent Spellword circle, dancing. The ...

Class Consultant - Book 1 Chapter 2

Chapter 2

Prak Elder

Prak Elder was a gracious host, despite his limited means and the secret he kept close to his chest. A quick sweep of his senses, couched in a practiced tightness that most couldn’t recognize, revealed the elder man as Classed. The flavor of his aura was something the Spellscribe hadn’t tasted, leaving him confused. If the old man had some rare class, he could certainly take the bandits out alone. Then again, there was the possibility that he had a non-c...

Class Consultant - Book 1 Chapter 1

Chapter 1

The Forests of Frostelm

Snowdrifts blew across an unnatural boreal forest, creating mounds deep enough to swallow a grown Human. The mighty conifers that called this place home took the unending storm in stride, roots firmly grasping at rocky soil with absolute refusal to give way to the weight of snow. Dran Frey found little about the place appealing. He pulled his hood tighter, desperate to find some relief from the biting cold. The man slipped, his pegleg breaking t...

Class Consultant Foreword

Class Consultant is weird. I'm looking for a plot, but I haven't found one yet. Well, I might have found something, but we'll see.

The purpose of posting CC chapters here is to check interest. I'm not sure if anyone would like this, but I wrote it. A poll asked for it. So, here it is.

The warnings are for violence, alcohol, bad words, strife, etc.

This is running for 3rd tier first, then we'll release it to other tiers as we go.

Class Consultant (Friday Update)

Instead of waiting for this map to be done, I wanted to post what I had ahead of time. You can also see my erratic way of designing a world, but it helps to have something as a reference lol.

Class Consultant chapters will be going up this Sunday. I'll just release every chapter to $10 Patrons and a sampling for everyone else. That'll be between 5 and 10 chapters depending on what I get done before then. Just as a reminder, this is a very early story that I'm not convinced I li...

Class Consultant Update

Well, this is turning into a weird story.

Setting:

Medieval Fantasy LITRPG word (people can see their stats).

Adventuer's guild, imperial army, some people have classes others don't.

System Rules:

The bulk of the population doesn't have access to classes.

People can take as many classes as they want, but classes are hard to come by.

Classes are infinite, and obtained almost randomly (some common classes are easy enoug...

Tresk Pixel Art Trading Card

Who gets a card, next? I don't know! My wife (editor prime) liked Theo and Tresk so she made them cards lol. She based the traits off my character doc, so of course Tresk gets "Goblin Mode".

Newt and Demon Map

This is a the sketch I have for the Newt and Demon's map. It is rather simple for what it is, but it's what I have planned out in the world. Iaredin is a fairly small continent. The distance between Broken Tusk and Qavell is roughly 1,000 miles. A mid-level adventurer should be able to cover the distance in a week, assuming their enhanced stats give them supernatural speed and endurance.

Veosta is the kingdom that Qavell is at war with, although we really don't know why. Gardreth is com...

Class Consultant (Early Phase Planning)

How does a pantser plan? We don't.

Well, some of us don't.

So, I'll start this out by saying there's 4 chapters of a story code named "Cultivation Consultant" in my google drive. I don't like it very much, even if I think it would make a decent story. The MC was a person who got isekai'd to a fantasy world where he failed at everything for 10 years, then he got isekai'd AGAIN to a cultivation world. He brings elements of the "system" from the pure litrpg world, which gave hi...

Future Projects/Recharging

I'm coming up to the end of writing Newt and Demon 2. I think I've said it here, but if there's break between book 2 and 3 it's going to be minimal. Maybe a week, maybe 2 weeks, but I don't imagine much longer than that.

So, the "Class Consultant" project has been kicking around in my noggin for a while and I've got a pretty good idea on how I want it to be structured. Slice of life elements, comedy, combat, lots of interesting classes to explore. As I'm going through writing that one, ...

Major event for book 3

So, this is a slice of life story. When I normally write, I would have a ton of "major" events happen in each book. Since I'm focusing on crafting and town building, I'm keeping those sudden shifts of tone to a minimum here. I went to look at my notes and the major event for book 2 happens in chapter 29 and 38.

After those revelations come to pass, I'll post a poll here asking what people want to see in book 3. I'm going to write them as vaguely as possible, because spoilers.

The Newt and Demon - Book 2 Chapter 27

“Well, they didn’t even breach your gate this time,” Fenian said, gesturing widely.

The Elf trader’s carriage sat near the monolith, the black lacquer exterior catching the fading light of the day. The demonic Karatans knickered angrily, pawing at the stone ground. Theo hoped that the authentic version of the beasts wasn’t so fearsome.

“Aarok is an excellent tactician,” Theo said.

“So many gems in the swamp,” Fenian said, trailing off.

Another man ste...

The Newt and Demon - Book 2 Chapter 26

I absolutely will not. Did you see the notification? More experience! Tresk said.

Theo noticed the look in the eyes of the other adventurers. They were itching to get out into the swamp to mop up the rest of the monsters, but Aarok held out his hand, shaking his head.

“We don’t want to be out there without fire,” Aarok said. “Better to let them smash against the walls.”

“Agreed,” Luras said. “Unless you have a lot of mobility powers, you’ll just ge...

The Newt and Demon - Book 2 Chapter 25

Theo woke the next morning to the sound of 20 slow bells. Where he expected a frantic, staccato call to arms, he found the mournful ring of peace. He wiped the sleep from his eyes, pulling the early warning crystal from his inventory and shaking his head. It was a deep shade of red, growing brighter by the moment. The difference between the last assault and this one was preparation. They were ready, even if Uharis wasn’t there as a backup. Tresk’s bed was empty, and the familiar smell of ...

Minor Math Problems!

I just went through and compared book 2 values for Theo's stats and compared them against starting stats. After plugging them into some excel formulas, I found a few interesting discrepancies. Theo was missing 3 stat points, which must have been allocated at some point but were missed in my doc.

I converted the stat sheet to an excel doc, so I can track where additions were made via point distribution and bonuses from equipment. This also allowed me to solidify my health/stamina/mana ca...

Friday Updates!

Well, it's another Friday. Well, I'm writing this on Thursday and publishing it on Thursday but... You know.

I thought it was going to be a challenge to write this week, as I've passed the half-way point in the writing of book 2. Turns out, not really. There's A LOT going on in this book, so it's super easy to pick out the most interesting plot points and put those forward.

I have 3 "jump the shark" moments in mind and have decided that I'm allowed to put 1 in each book. Tresk was...

Friday Updates

Should I write an update every Friday? I'm gonna, I like having a place to dump my thoughts.

So, I finished formatting that Hallben book, which is way later than I like. I still need to write a foreword, introduction, and afterword which means I'm far behind where I should be.

But, that's fine. The Newt and Demon book 2 is shaping up to be something I'm really enjoying. As of chapter 30, I only have 1 more character to introduce for all my plot lines to fall into place. I've toyed...

N&D Edits

Just a quick update, but I'm going to start on edits for book 1, soon. Once those are done, they will be posted exclusively to Patreon for a long period of time. They will not be posted to Royal Road, but will eventually come out as an ebook on Amazon. I don't want to even think about publishing them until book 3 is at least written, so the edited manuscript will be here for a while.

Also, when I say edit, I mean my edit. It still has to go through my editor, who may take their time wit...

Cover Reveal for Erridina Online: Hallben

Yeah, cutting it close with this one. My focus has been Newt and Demon for some time now, but I committed to get this book out in November. Both the edit, formatting, and cover for this one came later than expected.

If you want to read this book, I'll post an open ARC link very soon.

Theo's Pixel Art Card

This month is already slipping away from me. Lots of real life stuff getting in the way of things, but at least my wife is on top of it. She hasn't touched Newt and Demon 1 for editing, but that's likely good. Once it gets edited, I'll want to put it up on Amazon, or see if a publisher wants it, then it has to come down from RR and that sucks.

Anyway! What a cute little pixel art demon man, huh? The back of the card is styled off of the sign that appears outside of the shop! The design ...

Friday updates incoming!

Well, I sure took a long time getting this story started. Maybe I spent too much time ramping up the characters again. I thought we'd be at a few of the more important plot points by now on the tier 3 release, but hey. What can you do? It's a slice of life story.

So, the class consultant book took a really weird turn in my brain. I've been toying with that idea in-between writing Newt and Demon chapters to give my mind a rest. Where N&D is a story about success falling into someone'...

Friday Chapters! Again!

Friday chapters are going live tomorrow and the hurricane passed without incident. So, I'm now just a little bit behind to keep up with my schedule but nothing horrible. The storm sapped most of my energy for the week, but I'm working myself up to get the 3 chapters done. 2 more to go, at the time of this writing.

Anyway! Enjoy the chapters when they drop and enjoy the weekend!
