Test Animation 0001

Oh my goodness, this is clunky as crap, but guess what, this is the first time I've ever animated anything using animation software.  Little flip books don't count.  And I had to tell myself multiple times, it's okay to suck when you try something new.  I don't know if anyone else reading this is watching the anime  Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken! but the story a...

Studio Visit Coming Soon!

Tomorrow I'll get the first studio visit, and answering your question filmed tomorrow.  There's still time to get questions in, and the video will be available to folks at the $10 tier.  Video should be up this weekend as I don't anticipate having to do much, if any, editing.  I'm having to remember, when you start something new, it's most likely going to suck, but I'm hoping that by doing it, I'll face my anxiety and hopefully grow and get better. ^_^

Questions for the Dork Drawing the Comic

Hey folks, this week I'll be posting a video of me working in my studio to my $10 tier, and a few images from the session to my $5 tier.  I have this post for all to see so if you have questions regarding how I do certain things art wise, or comic, art related, please include your questions here.  I will do my best to answer as many as possible, as well as showing you how I work at creating my pics.  This will be something that I will try to get done on a weekly or every ...

In Process Devil Gals

Getting some more pics ready for eBay. Devil gals are always fun to imagine. I see them as professional, business, executive types who are super savvy at all their endeavors, and at the end of the day, they still have plenty of energy to get together and enjoy themselves. The is two getting ready to go out for a night of good eating, drinks, and fun.

Rough Around the Edges

Thinking back when I was sitting in a darkened auditorium in the Art building at the University of Northern Iowa, looking up at the large slides being projected onto the front screen, it seemed like everyone else would have rather been anywhere else but there. Art History gets a boring rap, and folks get hung up on the memorization of names and dates, and how stuffy it all seems.
I've always been a fan of seeing the process of any creative type's work and I just get lost in it. While Art H...

Reference Pics

Hey folks, feeling a bit stuck, or just not getting a pose to look right? Get yourself over to Pinterest or Google image search and look up some photos for reference. I don't recommend other drawings as much as photos as I think it's best to go to the source for inspiration or reference and not just use someone else's drawing. Once I get moving comfortably from the photo, I usually stop looking at it and allow the drawing to go in its own direction. It's not good to copy someone's work, a...

Selene Faust Sketch

In process of an ink and Copic drawing of Mrs. Faust. First I used my Cintiq to draw a sketch of the pose I wanted, then I transferred the image to bristol using my lightbox. In the vernacular, I traced my own artwork. =P

Knocked Off the Horse

Well, at least that's close to how it felt.  Losing one's parent after seeing them battle with an illness that takes away all dignity is not something anything earlier in life can prepare one for.  and seeing the sadness in the parent left behind, losing the love of their life is even more gut wrenching.  Add to that, moving to a new house and putting all your belongings in boxes, for the third time now as a family, can leave you spinning like a bottle cap in the middle of an e...

Getting back in the Saddle

Hey folks, as many of you may know, these last few months have been pretty stressful with lots of changes coming at me and my family quite quickly.  we are now in our new house, finally have internet, and trying to get settled. I thought I'd try jumping back into drawing by doing a power pose of calm Castela.

Speed Drawing

Hey folks!  I finally got around to posting the sketching and inking process of one of my daily comics up.  Other than speeding things up, I left in any mistakes and such, just to give you a feel for how I'm currently working on the Wacom Cintiq.  I will be posting more now that the tech side is not so mysterious to me, and that my overall anxiety/depression level is a bit more in check.  As always, thanks for reading and sticking around!  You folks rock! ^_^

Castela The Coming Storm

Hey folks, here's another video showing me clumsily making my way through another pic.  I thought that I had gotten video of my adding the lightening but sadly I didn't have the file to add to this video.  Basically, I'm using Fineline Masking Fluid in a fine tip squeeze bottle.  It's a latex fluid that you can use for watercolor and other liquid media to block said media from being added to your working surface.  Later in the video you can see that I'm using a natural rubber...
