I did silly thing on Twitter; I rambled in a thread as if I was playing "Ballout: New Vegas" a bootleg version of FNV where details are wonkily different. I wanted to doodle something from it and so here we are.

Face Study: Noelle, Veronica, Cass

Recently I've been doing a lot of face shape study to prepare for commission work, and decided to once again tackle my own character design for our FNV cast. I'm extremely happy with how these turned out, especially Cass who I had been struggling with for a long time.

Christine Royce

Portrait practice with my favorite girl Christine. I have drawn her a few times and always find her face shape tricky to get right. Unlike Boone who still has stubble on his buzz cut, Christine's head is cleanly shaved which makes the shape a bit hard to see. I'm looking forward to drawing her with Noelle again since they are the two smallest adult characters in the story. 

Misery Loves Company

This has been stuck in my head for a long time. The skit might not be one hundred percent canon due to their character developments, but I really couldn't let it go lol. Claire and Boone also both have dark circles from the lack of sleep, and I love finding mundane connections between characters like this.

Life Update: Apartment hunting, drawing software reset, social media chaos, and more commission info

Hi! Happy start of July. Hope everyone is doing well. I decided to post some recent life updates in a separate post so it'd be easier to keep track of.

As mentioned earlier, I want to decrease my art frequency a bit from last year to avoid overworking and the risk of wrist injury. Still, I'd like to apologize for the sparsity of new art and comic recently. There is a lot going on right now and I'm trying my best to get everything back in working order as soon as possible.

Forest Entrance (background practice)

A quick background I did to practice mixing different brush shapes. I'm trying to incorporate some premade brushes into my work to speed things up, especially small background details like grass and such.

Craig and Carla Sketch

I wanted to draw something of them but still uncertain about how the composition turned out. (Boone's rifle is also too big lol.) I didn't want to just discard the sketch so I decided to polish it and add a bit of color. Might go back to redraw this later.

Hopping on the Grimace shake meme train because Noelle comedically dying is funny. Also congratulations to Boone for perfect two for two record. /j

Fish ( ◉ ▽ ◉ )

The pre-historic fish "Sacabambaspis" has been back on trending these past few weeks and it reminds me of the in-game dialogue where the courier asks Cass if she knows what a fish is.

I just recently reset my drawing software to fix some issues and it might take a few days to set up. Good thing is it forced me to reorganize all of the tools which should help the drawing process go smoother.

The Companions (and new series logo!)

I found out two panels of previous comics can be mashed together to create a full group photo of all New Vegas companions. I'm really happy with how this turned out. The general vibe is awesome and captures their spirit very well.

I also made a new logo for Noelle's comic series since the last one really lacked substance. I'm glad that I was able to include the scope and two bullet shots motifs.

Cass' Experimental Whiskey (old comic)

Another old comic from pre-Patreon era. I missed this one when uploading a batch of old comics last time but was reminded of it again during our talk on discord about how unsettling it is to see Boone grins.

Ten Years of Change

I colored two panels from "A Stranger's Help" one-shot to make a fun comparison of Noelle and Boone when they meet in FNV story vs. their chance encounter ten years ago as depicted in "Never Met" comic. It's also fun to see how the greyscale panels would look with color.

Scorched Ruin (background practice)

A background practice to get more familiar with sharp comic shading. Although it is a random no-context fire scene, I'm definitely going to be drawing a lot of similar backgrounds for Noelle's comic. I really enjoy both the colored and black and white versions.
