BREAKDOWN 005 - Greenery

Far Cry 5 - Card Set

Back when we were shooting the Far Cry 5 fan film Baptism of Fire, a project that was funded by game publisher Ubisoft I took inspiration from some of the pre-release game art that  featured the characters on retro collector cards. Even though less than half the game characters featured in the film we had some fun and improved using extras, sound people, makeup artists to fill the ranks of the additional characters.

Before|After - Suddenly Green

One last shoot with Suddenly Green before she moves overseas again. Similar setup to x23 shoot with camera suspended overhead. Due to the small bath and limited amount of foliage I had to crop the image in quite tight but very happy with result.

Had my book launch last night at the RAW showcase and had a number of people turn up particularly to grab one. That along with Pre-sales means the book run is about 30% sold which is amazing. The book featured images from the last 18 months.

Mother of Dragons

I've always been keen to augment more photos with illustrations ever since the 101 Dalmatians shot from about three years ago which is still one of my favourite all time works.

With the minimalist nature of this shoot of the rebirth of Daenerys Targaryen from Game of Thrones I thought the inclusion of dragons would work beautifully. Finished a second pass of the NZ Armageddon shots today and spend a little extra time on this one. Would have been 15-20 minutes work using a lot of standard assets like the city shots that's in 80% of my superhero comps.

X23 Behind the Scenes

Due to my mobility issues the only way to can do overhead shots now is with the camera on a boom shooting tethered. The downside is I don't have a fancy device for changing setting on the camera so any changes to camera or flash settings still need to be made on the camera, which is up near the roof.  The same with lens changes so my lovely model Justine kept having to jump up stand on the bed and change settings or swap lens for me. Which was interesting when you are wearing giant claws...

RSB Guide Dog Photoshoot

Last week I did another shoot for the Royal Society for the Blind of their latest litter comprising of 9 puppies. They were slightly younger that last last lot of black puppies and had trouble sitting up on the white backdrop as their paws kept sliding.

Lots of post work to do as the RSB what the background to be infinite white and as you can see from the mage above its currently at about a 10% grey.

Discarded

A very quick experiment from a few years ago that I've been meaning to get back to.

Jasmine and I did a number of shoots in the Botanic Gardens on this day, one was a levitation shot which I've posted a before|after shot here previously.

Another series we did on the day was this broken doll look which I did this quick test of a concept of turning her into a discarded android. I do love the red dress and the green as a colour palette.

First Proof

Getting delivery of the full book proof today and then fast turn around to get the books printed and delivered for the launch on the 1st Feb at the RAW book launch! Very nervous and excited.

Immoral Kombat

In 2015 I did a promo shoot for a Burlesque fringe show called Immoral Kombat, The show has had some cast changes so recently we shot some of the new characters. As the characters are announced the screen shows their 'Fight' image and here is one of the new ones. The image was originally shot as portrait but retrofitted to landscape to fir the screen ratio.

Capture Magazine - The Annual

I could actually say I was featured in the pages of this highly regarded Australian photography magazine but lets face it, its just in an ad but that's still pretty cool. I'm a Jinbei Ambassador and the Australian distributor Protog used this image of Beke Cosplay from AVcon in the press ad for the new HD400 which I got to test the first one in Australia earlier in the year.

Nutcracker

I don't do a lot of Christmas shoots, one a year if that and this one was pretty last minute when I was asked to shoot another bodypaint design by Lenniedin Adelaide Body Paint based on the Sugar Plum Fairy from the Nutcracker.

Adelaide Supanova - First Pass

Four cons is four weeks equals a lot of photos (five in five if you count Zombie Walk). I finally finished the first pass on Adelaide Supanova which means there should be at least one shot of everyone up and I can move back on to New Zealand Armageddon shots, The Brisbane and finally PAX. Immoral Kombat

In August 2015 at the Lions Theatre on North Tce we did a promo shoot for Bazinga Burlesques upcoming Fringe show Immoral Kombat in which performers fight to keep their clothes on and the outcome of battles is decided my the audience.

So popular was the format its returned almost every year and even been performed internationally.
