… if you choose to add a signal—for example, saying something like, “My mother had depression and that’s why I have depression, and now my daughter is suffering from depression”—then the epigenetic marks are activated. The thinking and speaking out the problem serve as the signal that makes it a reality.

Good morning!

The other day I started a topic on the mind, brain and body and how praise and worship affects them.

When we are in a fear response which often looks like anxiety, depression and other physical or emotional problems, we are in “fight or flight” and our body produces more glucose, more clotting factors along with increasing the blood pressure, breathing and much more. These put us at risk for heart attacks, strokes (from the increased clotting) and diabetes (from ...

Good morning!

In my Hallelujah Habits group I have been talking about the mind and how we can use our mind to change our brain and body. It is such a fascinating topic to me! I have spent so many hours going deep into the understanding of this and I am only on the surface.

Our mind is the place where we generate thoughts and we have the ability to change those thoughts with our mind. We have such a unique perspective as humans that we can step back and look at our thoughts and cha...

“Faith is not an instinct. It certainly is not a feeling—feelings don’t help much when you’re in the lions’ den or hanging on a wooden Cross. Faith is not inferred from the happy way things work. It is an act of will, a choice, based on the unbreakable Word of a God who cannot lie, and who showed us what love and obedience and sacrifice mean, in the person of Jesus Christ.”

Good morning!

Yesterday, I began a topic on “when bad things happen” and how we perceive these things.

It is hard for human minds to understand or step far enough back to see the big picture. We tend toward wanting soft and easy all the time. But, God is loving and just. He knows what will actually be good in the long run and what we need in the moment.

Something I really loved pondering this past week was this metaphor about a farmer.

Listen to me;

listen, a...

Darkness comes. In the middle of it, the future looks blank. The temptation to quit is huge. Don't. You are in good company... You will argue with yourself that there is no way forward. But with God, nothing is impossible. He has more ropes and ladders and tunnels out of pits than you can conceive. Wait. Pray without ceasing. Hope.

Good morning!

“Lord, Your discipline is good, for it leads to life and health. You restore my health and allow me to live!” Isaiah 38:16

This theme of praise is going to perhaps take a turn that is controversial, but I’d ask you to consider.

People will say “God doesn’t cause bad things to happen.” Let’s break that sentence down. I know that this could go so much deeper than what I even say in this short message.

First, what do you consider “bad”? Som...

Good morning!

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

How many times have I breezed right on past the “with thanksgiving” part of this?!

We are told to be thankful as part of our pathway to peace. I am pretty good at presenting my prayers and p...

Good morning!

Why am I making such a big deal of praise recently? After reading the book Power in Praise that my friend sent me, I saw so much that was in my face my whole life but that I had never made a habit of actually doing.

I was pretty good at thanking God for what I considered to be blessings or good things, but I found myself pleading for Him to change things that had remained for years. Sometimes that pleading is discouraging because of several things. One is that I have...
