Oh.... it's been what? Ten minutes since I've drawn a Yaz pic? Anyway, I kinda wanted one from my imaginary AU where she had clearly been living on the island full of dinosaurs for years. Just willfully ignore the show canon and go all in on the "cave woman adventurer" aesthetic.

You're making do with what clothes you have. Getting dirts and scrapes as you hunt and scavenge in a dangerous location. Man... at least it's one way to stay in shape.

Sorry for missing a couple days there, I was a little burnt out from the family vacation. It was a nice time I got to spend with my brother's kids and catch up with them. But man, family vacations aren't exactly "vacations" are they? They're a series of events you try to wrangle everyone together for. But at least the photos and museums are nice! Some more "Dog Isekai." I'm just trying to get the look down of the principle leads and I think this image does a good job of describing what I'd like to do with this story if it becomes a series. 

I want the dog to look like he's not part of the same world. The fantasy world he landed in may be full of magic and mythical creatures but it is a gray and drab and damaged world. The dog is just this innocent thing from somewhere else. And that makes him unique and special. The ranger ...

I spent a bit of time this weekend playing more Hi-Fi Rush and this game is hitting all my buttons as an action game. It helps that I love all the characters too.

I just ended up asking, informally on twitter, whether or not I should draw Korsica or Rekka and they went largely for Korsica. She is one of the more popular characters in the game. Nothing set in stone yet, but just... gathering my ideas. I want to set down some of these things while the idea is hot. Then I can get back to work on some current projects, and finish a few of them before getting back to "Dog Isekai."

I'm not entirely sure how Dog Isekai will go but I think I can do little scenes like this. Maybe I can just keep posting mysterious images that don't tell a specific story, instead they'll just show moments and scenes captured from a much longer tale. It can leave a lot to the imagination. I'm thinking the story in people's minds will be better than most anything I can tell directly anyway.

This is also an opportunity to play on my fantasy settings and stuff. I haven't done that in earn...

Just starting the month off with some progress shots on some of the pages. I'm liking how these colors are looking! It's a particularly attractive orange on this one too.

Not every page or sketch is gonna be colored but many will be. I just want this set to have a nice amount of value to it and also feel like a complete thing. Right now the target is to have an 8 page comic with spot color. 6 Full color illustrations. and ten pages of sketches and so on.

Dog Isekai

Over the weekend, I got this silly idea in my head about having my own "Isekai" story. If you don't know, an Isekai is a genre of Anime and Manga entirely about characters from "the real world" ending up transported to a fantasy of some kind. They can usually use their knowledge of the real world stuff to gain an advantage over the fantasy world. It follows a long tradition of stories from A Princess of Mars to Alice in Wonderland, just there tends to be more anime tropes involved.

Oh man I wish I worked on this game

There's this game that was just announced and came out on the same day called Hi-Fi Rush and it's great. Like a legitimately great action game that mixes rhythm music games into the fighting system. The whole game is painted over in this beautifully done 2000s era cartoon aesthetic and it oozes with charm. It's a real hit so far and I love it.
