This one looks like a good candidate for a full color job but I think people really want to see the Ashley one completed. But at this point it might be a shame not to color them all. But I think the Rosemary-Morrigan one could use a little more work before that.

Heisen Cass

Cass as a Zombie? Is this it for the Darkstalkers? I do have some friends bugging me to see some of the guys get a genderbent version and I'm not totally against that idea. Let me know what you guys think.

Sweet as can Bee, redux

I admit I wasn't satisfied with the last pic so I wanted to try again. I like this one considerably better and might finish it up. Though some folks wanted to see the Lilith Ashley completed, I think I might like to do this one as well.

There was also the option of going "scary" with this pic too. Q Bee is actually a creepy Darkstalkers character, who actually transforms her opponents into hosts where a new Q Bee emerges from. It's cool as heck, but certainly that falls more into the sc...

I couldn't really think of an OC I wanted to throw into Q-Bee's outfit from Darkstalkers so I just borrowed Yaz for a minute. She seems up to it anyway, if a little confused by the change.

I kinda wish this drawing turned out better, or had something a little more interesting with it. I like the "idea" of Yaz getting a sudden bee girl transformation though so I may revisit this again. Maybe it'll be some kinda mad science experiment or something. But that's for a later me.

Character a Day, Batch 10, Witchy!

This week on "character a day" Modern witches (plus one vampire)

I had intended to start this week off by drawing a bunch of monsters and cool stuff but I immediately got sidetracked with the image in my head of a cat raising their arms to "cast a spell." And then bam, it's all cute witches week.

Okay okay okay, so I guess I just HAVE to draw all the Darkstalkers now. I think this leaves the Bee lady and Heisen Ko? But who should those characters be.

Anyway, thanks for everyone sticking around this week. This has been... a strange one. I definitely would've preferred Patreon NOT make these new changes but we'll deal with them. Hopefully they listen to a lot of the people complaining right now. But in the meanwhile we'll deal with them.

Oh... I'm gonna have to do the whole Darkstalkers cast now aren't I?

Anyway, I'm kinda having another stressful day but it's not related to the flu shot this time. It's a bunch of things. Not the least of which was Patreon changing it's entire design on posts. It makes all my posts with "cropped" banner images and warnings meaningless. Also it makes it harder to make posts. Just... not great.

But we'll deal with it.

Character A Day, Batch 9, (Busy!)

Another "Character a Day" batch, this time it was something entirely made just for me. For whatever reason, I got to looking at the Busy World of Richard Scarry and the books again. I haven't seen them since I was a kid but looking at them now I thought the art and world were really fantastic. It's beloved for a reason.

Character a Day, Batch 8, Dog Isekai

Dog Isekai is a concept (explained here) that I'm pretty sure has some legs to it. But besides making the time to work on it, I have a couple other challenges. One... I don't know what makes an Isekai idea really work. Two, I'm more of a cat person. It would help if I knew more ways to make a dog come across as a good boy and actually important to a fantasy setting.

I think I'm getting a little better at hips and waists. I know a lot of people like how I draw them but I always thought I was getting them a little wrong. Pulpy Shenanigans

I was just having some fun with this one. While drawing I happened to be watching the original Lost in Space in the background. It's... not a very good show I think but the campy aesthetics, Dr Smith chewing the scenery, and the robot can make it a fun thing to watch. And I can totally see why people were glued to it back then. A couple details just don't age well, that's all.

Oh... nothing too spectacular here. Just figured if I was drawing Ashley, I'd draw another Rose too. The style's a bit different here, was referencing someone else's drawing I liked. The more I do that, the more I learn. But I need to remember that to really learn you need to understand what the other artist is doing as you're working from their work.

Back to Class

Nothing too complicated here, just felt like drawing Ashley and figured she'd be going back to college about now. She really came out of her shell this summer.

Also experimenting a bit more quite a quick coloring and sketching style. It's a little too rough to call it finished but it does come together fast.

Character a Day, Batch 7, Girls and Mecha

I went into this last week without an actual plan to do something, it just came about after I drew the first girl in power armor. I think I had started drawing a fairly traditional mech but then it just needed something to give it some interest. And then I'm like... well what if this was a suit of armor?

Oh hey, the new season of Star Trek Lower Decks came out! Time to remind everyone that I am PROBABLY a bigger nerd for Star Trek than I am almost any other setting. And that includes Batman stuff. With more Lower Decks it'll be fun to revisit that world and every time I watch a new episode I see something I just have to draw.

And well, season 4 episode 2 had a LOT of Mariner in her workout uniform for almost no reason and I definitely felt like drawing that.

Cass in various states of dress (NSFW, kinky)

Oh... was just messing around a bit. I had started with drawing Cass in an action pose but as I did more and more sketches well we eventually got to that fourth sketch on the bottom there.

That said, I like this muted color palette. It looks really pleasant to me and helps liven up even these simple sketches.

It kinda feels like they've got an instagram filter on, and I kinda like it. I like adding glowing light beams to scenes. It makes a shot like this feel a little warmer.

Anyway, glad to finish this one. There are bits I could probably have done better but I'm at the point where I'd like to move on to another piece now. We'll have more sketch to finished art polls in the future. Give me more suggestions!
