When I first went to open the door, it jammed. This perturbed me, so I looked up at the sign to check, and was reassured that the store was "OPEN", according to the torn sign that hung in between the dull yellow curtains at the door window. I pushed harder and harder with effort, got into the shop.
Inside it was totally abandoned, and left to ruin. Complete isles lay on the ground, the fridges were smashed and glass coated on the floor. Despite the brightness outside, the interior of the Gas Station was dark and bitterly cold. Then there came, from behind me, this quiet weeping, like a child's. I felt my heart race. It was coming from the back room.

Yes! It's definitely someone's first venture into the horror genre and they're finding their feet. It was one of the creepypastas of the month on the wiki and I was super taken with the imagery they were able to conjure up. Anything crawling through an open window is immediately going to be a huge nope nope nope 😂

2024-03-06 18:43:10 +0000 UTCBit rough around the edges (not your delivery but the story itself - your delivery is flawless as usual lol) but still a compelling tale of entering a terrifying twilight zone and falling victim to a contagion from which there is no escape. The atmosphere of worsening dread and despair is very, very real. What surprised me was that the 'victim count' only totalled 32... unless of course time in this nightmare realm doesn't work linearly and our friend is 32 of 6981 or something of the sort. Brrrrr.
