I'm late to the party on this reaction lads...just to answer a couple of your questions....see the uncut extended edition near the end ripley comes across Brett and dallas cocooned to the wall in the basement of the ship while she's trying to escape to the shuttle....Brett is dead but dallas is alive and is in a heap...he says to ripley "kill me" so ripley kills dallas and Brett with the flamethrower.
