Yon and Yuuko [Junji Ito Collection pt1]

Some higher-level patrons who have been around since last year may be aware that I did a bunch of concept sketches for a to-be collectio of Junji Ito-themed, 70's shoujo-inspired pins/stickers, and that I hoped to work on them throughout September and october.

I only ever did stickers of Ito's real-life cursed cat, Yon, despite doing some rough stuff for other familiar faces in his work.

So, I decided to return to the Junji Ito collection as a warm-up, and I'll be finishing it up eventually, along with other stickers/warmups I'm working on. To make these a bit more dynamic, I've decided to incorporate a little beige and yellow, along with some scratchy rough values to really bring home the feel of their source material.

Of course, these would be super fun to print and sell at a convention, but we'll see what happens over the next year.
