The Starport bustles with activity once again...

We're getting oh-so-close to a full reveal guys. Here's a little preview of the Starport. Probably the least updated part of the game but still has some notable improvements. Even down to the little NPCs wandering behaviours. It's subtle, but there. Anyway, on to more important matters...

The Things Left To Do

I have a list of about half a dozen remaining tasks that must be completed before I can share the new demo. These remaining tasks are mostly things that have to be in place for the demo to be playable and fun (e.g., having a functional between-mission salvage/repair screen, since I've been testing I've had that as a placeholder). Also minor things like adding music back into the game (just didn't get around to it yet!). I've stopped working on new features not on the list so that I can whittle down the remaining items and actually share something with you guys, but that brings me to my second point...

The Things That Won't Be Included

I'm aiming to have the new demo be playable but it will still be missing lots of features that I will have to build back up with time. For instance, it will likely include only 1 mission type for now (a basic search and destroy), it won't include the star map (just hasn't been re-implemented yet), it won't include the mod bay or buying of weapons and parts. In fact, I could go on and on about what I still have left to do, but suffice to say I've still got more work to do and all those features will be added back in over time.

The best way to think of this upcoming demo is that it's an advanced development build that I'll be sharing exclusively with the Patrons. After it's out, it'll be much easier for me to share incremental updates and improvements as I improve each new feature in it and once we get to a point where the build is more developed then I'll share it more widely with others. But for now it'll be the Patrons that get the first crack at it.

The Next Step

Hopefully, the next time you hear from me is when I'm scheduling the live stream to show off the new version of the game. I can't give you a definite date on that yet but as I say, I've got my todo-list whittled down and will do my best to get it done ASAP.
