Mechanical Glass Crab

Another four-legged character! This one is a crab type of creature, almost exclusively made out of glass, except for the joints and an animated gear box in the center.

Each leg has an IK target that follows a path, and the keyframes are linear. This means that if you're into creating drivers, you should be able to set it up so the legs move natural across the ground without any keyframes!

The body has a tracking constraint set to an empty object above the character. This works as a nice way to easily change the balance! This can be used and animated to make the walk cycle more assymetrical and organic.

Inside the glass material, you can see that there are some moving gears. It's barely visible in the render, but I think it gives the character much more depth, almost as if it's a wind up toy!

The character was made in Blender version 3.0alpha, and can be rendered with the new Cycles X engine!
