The end of the episode makes a bit more sense. There's no reference to the ghost being one of his victims. Rather, she was his old music teacher (who's death he might or might not have been involved in). She said that he could have been a good musician if he had practiced, but he insisted that he did practice every day but was never good enough for her. At the end of the episode it cuts away from the protagonist and shows that she was forcing him to practice forever as punishment for "being a lazy boy."
