My rankings for the current crop of shows: DSC (a series that boldly shifted focus away from department heads, making the early seasons unpredictable in a good way, focused on mental health, and did some wonderful hard sci-fi stories a la Contact and Arrival) PRO (a series ultimately about communication, like all great Trek, and a great introduction for kids, the other show that has a big focus on science) PIC seasons one and two (gorgeous dialogue and beautifully bittersweet goodbyes, as well as exploration of Romulans, synths, and xBs in ways that points toward peace after trauma) SNW (safe in format, it still pisses off bigots, which is nice) Short Treks (nice experimental testbed for other concepts) LDS (good, for the most part, except for when it forgot it was about underdogs in about half of season three's episodes) PIC season three (cynical pandering to the bigots and trolls who hated the first two seasons, such as by downplaying the Raffi/Seven relationship, getting rid of many of the characters of color from the first two seasons, and openly mocking the first two seasons' peace and poignant goodbyes) Prodigy had the best first season of all of them, and "Time Amok" is the standout. It was an instant classic, as soon as it was released.
