Commentary Track Feedback

Hi all! Just wanted to get your opinions on the commentary tracks I release each month for the $3+ patrons. The main question is if you'd prefer me to watch the movie ahead of time or if you'd rather have me keep doing what I've been doing and watching a movie for the first time while recording.

But I'd also love for you to comment here with movies you'd like me to watch. Any horror movie on Netflix is fair game! And if someone suggests something you agree with, like or comment on it so I can know what's popular and do what YOU want to see. Thanks for the support everyone, you're the ones who keep me going when things get tough! <3

Comments

Can you clarify this comment? Are you saying that a film like The Ritual should not be viewed with commentary (in which case, wouldn't that just be your choice to not listen to the commentary), or that James should watch it his first time without comment, and then do a more informed commentary track as he watches it a second time? EDIT: I just saw your comment on The Ritual commentary itself in which you made your point very clearly, and I fully agree with you. It makes a lot of sense that a deeper movie should have a more informed, researched commentary.

Ok, I'm back. I think it is fine if the film is a horror comedy, something silly to watch with friends but some films simply aren't designed to be watched that way. I think a film like The Ritual should be watched, not talked over on the first watch but that's just me. Evidently.

The Void

I would recommend The Collection, Train to Busan (if you are interested in covering an Asian movie), and The Autopsy of Jane Doe as a first time watch. We have these on Netflix Australia. I'm guessing they're available in the US as well!

Archie Veera

Both are really fun but I kind of like the honest/surprising responses to the movies you watch! You can always alternate between ones you've seen and ones you haven't and see if you (or the viewers) have a preference then. I really enjoyed the Sleepaway Camp commentary because I think it was that perfect balance of people who had/hadn't seen the movie before.

I personally love the first impression commentaries but I wouldn’t be opposed to you watching movies you’ve already seen. Maybe two tracks a month for each, eh? Lol as for recommendations: Scary Movie, Jeepers Creepers 3 (although I completely understand if you don’t want to do that one), Tucker & Dale Vs Evil, Welcome to Willits, ABCs of Death, The Collection, Clown, Stitches, The Invitation is REALLY good, 47 Meters Down, Don’t Kill It. Just to name a few lol

Chris Cullen

You should watch DEXTER not a movie but really great show.

Richard Lucero

I like the watching the movies for the first time with you but ones you've seen before would be cool to. Also would you do It Follows

Joshua Able

Well, since I started this, I don't really need to say which I prefer, haha. Looking through horror films on US Netflix, I'll suggest 30 Days of Night.

Jimmy Brown

I’d love to see The Gift and/ The Conjuring! Thanks James!!

Emma Tweitmann

Oh and for some Netflix movie suggestions: 1922 Cabin Fever The Gift The Descent Part 2 Silent Hill Okay that's enough from me. Love this channel!

Illusion XIII

Can you do "Creep" it should still be on Netflix

Nathan Smith

I absolutely love the first time experience! It’s so cool to freak out about the same things together because I usually haven’t seen them either so it feels like I’m actually watching it with you guys! But also I know there are movies you have seen that I would love to see on these commentary tracks so I don’t want you actively avoiding ones you have seen. I’d love to see Hush or any of the Scary Movies or The Babadook I’m the commentary tracks as well

Ashley Cooper

I think both ways are cool, and bring different positives to the experience. So while I voted for "first impression" movies (because there's something so much fun listening to you all freak out when something surprises you), I'd love something like a 70/30 mix so there are still some movies where we can enjoy your experience and even prepared research.
