Kill Count movie poll

Hi patrons! It's been a while since I've done a poll to have you help me pick a movie for the Kill Count, so let's do that now! Shudder is sponsoring an episode in February and I'd like to cover something available on their platform. I've narrowed it down to the following 10 choices. A couple of notes here:

Thanks, everyone! Excited to see what you pick!

BRIEF NOTES ON THE FILMS:

Comments

Urban Legend (1998) and its two sequels, and Prom Night franchise

Mark Lynn

I really think Ichi the Killer should be it, would be great to have more Asian movies on dead meat, let alone a pretty fucked up one too!

Mojo167776

More of these movie polls please 🙏🏼

Mark Lynn

I'm absolutely happy with whatever is picked, but y'all are really sleeping on Pieces. That's a wild experience 😂

Logan Arnold

How can I not vote for a film called Tammy and the T Rex

I emailed about "Behind the Mask" a long time ago lol.....it's amazing! It's worthy of a kill count AND a podcast episode 😋❤️

Matt Monfils

Urban Legend

Marian

I just saw Pieces for the first time last year and that's just balls out crazy fun. Legit old school slasher with some really great kills and an excellently over the top performance by Linda Day George. Even if it doesn't make the kill count you guys should definitely check it out sometime.

John

As much as I love this movie, you and another commenter convinced me of this sad truth. A commentary track would work but that's probably it.

Julia Sullivan

When I first found this channel and binged the hell out of it, the 2 movies I was shocked to see not yet covered were Behind the Mask and Hatchet. So gimme some Leslie! Although, I recently watched Slimeball and OMG what a movie 😂 I think it would be fun to do one Full Moon kill count a month cuz they're so wild and funny. I highly suggest "Trophy Heads" free on Tubi

Anthony Longo

It is on Shudder.

Iain Kerr

Would love to see yours and Chelsea's reactions to the"twist" from a filmmaking standpoint.

Angelina May

One Cut of the Dead should be a podcast film, doesn't fit the Kill Count rules.

Angelina May

Oooo I know I love it I just want everyone to be able to experience it hhehehe

Kaleb Rhodes

...it's not great lmaooo

krystina alfonso

Def check out the commentary track for tammy!

krystina alfonso

Both have commentary tracks!

krystina alfonso

You can also listen to the commentary track!

krystina alfonso

There's also a commentary track on it

krystina alfonso

You can listen to the commentary track that has a few references in there!

krystina alfonso

It's a crooked gem of a movie, Terry. I gently recommend it.

Reade McCardell

I voted for Ichi...and I think you will find it excessively repulsive.

Reade McCardell

The description of Pieces reminds me of The House That Jack Built.

Terry Madeley

Tammy and the T-Rex and Humanoids are my picks, but I'm sure you'd do them all justice

Tell It Animated

I just watched bowl-o-rama last night along with their commentary track, what an insane movie. a kill count on it would be awesome

RyLaw

Oh my god, please Tammy and the T-Rex. If not my second pick is Sorority babes in the slime bowl orama, I just watched it last night along with your commentary track. keep up the good work y'all!

RyLaw

they just reviewed it on the podcast last week!

RyLaw

i stan Miike very earnestly, and even though he's known for shock content I think that overshadows his subtleties and innovative narratives angles and sincere depictions of different types of outcasts. Audition and Ichi have some truly inspired and virtuoso bits, but Dead Or Alive 2: Birds (nominally yakuza so not really Dead Meat's wheelhouse) legit has my favorite sentimental evocations of childhood

James Sumner

Just watched “Hunter Hunter”....... it would be right up your alley James and Chelsea! Can’t wait for your next batch!

Michael Brito

Since you can vote more than one, I did vote for it out of sheer curiosity. But I think maybe we need to time to find and watch this movie before he covers it.

Jewels

It would be my second choice if Leslie Vernon wasn't on there. But I literally emailed him asking him to cover Behind the Mask so I have to vote for it.

Jewels

Been hoping for Leslie Vernon for a very long time. But also, when James describes movies like he'll be miserable having to watch it, I can't help but vote. I love the kill counts, but the schadenfreude I get from watching kill counts like I'll Always Know is something I can't resist. Sorry James

franz Ferdinand

Good thing Shudder is sponsoring the episode if it does get chosen 😉

Jordan Sanabria

You had me at “Puerto Rican” lmao. It’s pretty definitively not going to win but I’m gonna check it out anyway, and now I have a bunch more to add to my watchlist 🥳

Jordan Sanabria

Won't lie, I've never heard of any of them but Henry. I do however vote for myself to be on 'What's Your Favorite Scary Movie'... and for you to Kill Count Hellraiser this year. Not doing so would be a waste of good suffering...

How is the Bowl-o-Rama not leading by a long shot here. So disappointed in my fellow meaties! 😅😉

ATRO

I'd love to see a kill count of Ichi the Killer specifically because I've heard grotesque things. I'm always extra excited when you cover something that's a little too extreme for me, since it gives me a comfortable way to learn about a movie I wouldn't be able to handle otherwise!

Ezra G

The guy who directed Tammy and the T-rex also directed the infamously horrible film "Mac and Me"

Jacob Schneider

Those of you not voting for Bowl-o-Rama have no idea what you're missing out on. That kill count would be... something else.

Iain Kerr

BAY OF BLOOD is legendary, depressing it’s that low

JJ Miller

It was interesting…. LoL!

Markel D Brown

Pieces only has 118 votes? A tragedy.

AdrianElCritico

I have seen the Bowl-a-rama movie myself and would love to see you take a crack at it.

Steavie Friedrich

I know it’s less popular, but a good friend was an AD on Scare Package, if you wanted to connect with the filmmakers!

John Carr

Honestly I'm here for you, your team, and your show; everything else is just frosting on the cake. It doesn't matter what you cover. Just have fun.

Charles Snow

I would love to see some of Takashi Miike's films getting kill counted, Ichi might be a little extreme as a first, but I ain't gonna say no to it. I would recommend The Happiness of the Katakuris or One miss call. ;)

Robin Hougaard

I watched the Slime Bowl-a-rama. it was.... a watch....

Bradley Bishop

Everyone turn out for Tammy and the T-rex PLEASE it is fantastically bad like so bad

Kaleb Rhodes

I've never seen any of these. I voted for the one that sounded the most funny.

Nicole Jackson

He hasn't even done Psycho! I'd also like to see him do Stepford Wives and The Fog. And there's dozens of Giallo and Slasher movies out there.

William Emery Poundstone

wish you were doing one for Haunt! would be such a good episode in the future

Cory Ruiz

I kinda agree, but I'd rather see him do meta/comedy, foreign, and cult-favorite horror movies. It's good to diversify and represent the genre as a whole better like this.. Either way, I'm just happy we get new Kill Counts.

Adam Oz

I'm getting sick of all these corny low budget movies that James seems to be covering. Can we go back to the classics?

William Emery Poundstone

Iccchhhhiiii!

Julian Dene

Really hope Tammy wins, because no offense, i really want to see more Older and Obscure Movies. because mostly all that Get's covered are Newer Movies, kinda want a Change.

JamesLikeWrestling13

I'd love to see Henry Portrait of a Serial killer, why isn't Audition on the list lol lost my appetite after that movie

nash sanadiki

I was wondering if those were ever going to be done. The kills in the movies are pretty legit, especially the first one.

Beatrice Elvira Moreno

Ichi the killer is a freakin’ classic babyyyyyy oh my god I hope you do it some day!

Pizzaboy Mike

Definitely enjoy the Japanese ones entered here! Need more representation from the east their movies are great in my opinion!

Alithria

Oh, I just wanna hear the Jurassic Park references you'd make for Tammy and the T-Rex!

Nat Phensiriphand

I haven’t seen “Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer” in years, and it’s pretty hard to find. Is it available to buy/rent anywhere?

Richard Cross

I hope one of the more “silly” movies wins out; Henry and Ichi are preeeeetty intense.

Jessica Curtis

Tammy is also a commentary track!

krystina alfonso

Looking forward to Ichi especially, but I'm curious; are the Victor Crowley/Hatchet movies on your radar yet? The series stars your favorite stuntman/Jason, Kane Hodder!!

Andrew the Elder

You can always listen to the commentary!

krystina alfonso

There's a commentary track!

krystina alfonso

I'll speak up for Humanoids from the Deep. Think the story of Peeters vs. Corman vying for control of the film is extremely interesting, speaking to the long term struggle of female voices in the horror genre. Also the plot has some parallels to H.P. Lovecraft's The Shadow Over Innsmouth, which I love. (I'd really love a Kill Count for Stuart Gordon's Dagon some day.) Fish monsters and other aquatic beasties in general are great horror monsters.

Christopher Nichols

Recently watched Bay of Blood on Shudder (using code deadmeat) and it was pretty okay! Looks like it's pretty far behind on the vote though.

Christian Weersink

Love the Bay of Blood and Ichi the Killer inclusions! Mario Bava and Takashi Miike are two of my favorite directors

Rachel Snead

I beg of you, please do NOT do One Cut of the Dead -- it's a great movie, but it HAS to be experienced without knowing what happens. "No spoilers" is over-used, but not for this movie.

horacefarbuckle

I want to see all of these, of course, but Sorority Babes is a late-night classic from when I was young, and while I'm sure it's aged TERRIBLY, I'd love to see James's take on it.

Adam Lipkin

I honestly picked Ichi because its the only one I know. Saw it wayyyy back on YT in my more edgy days and even then it was a looooot. Maybe if you do it have a ...not so bad one before and after?

Luna

Some great choices here! Super excited for whichever wins!

Joe Sundy

Ichi is definitely not something you'd want to do, there's a lot of sexual violence throughout the film

thinty9

I did a little dance when I saw Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon on the list lol

Goth Ravager

I would have loved to see Bay of Blood, but I guess that's a no on that.

Owen W

Of course one at a time (don’t overwork yourself. Please do one a week if it comes down to it. They all seem interesting.

RogueSpartan113

I’d like to see all of these.

RogueSpartan113

Thank you, Mac! Couldn’t agree more!! I mean—It’s Paul Walker!

Nicole Parreira

I love One Cut of the Dead, but i dont know if it is a good Kill Count Movie. Still voted for it and Ichi the Killer

Teo Laurich

Behind the Mask is amazing with great cameos

Trent Seibel

I've never heard of the slime bowl o rama one but am intrigued. That being said, Behind the Mask is such a different and fun take on the genre, I really want to see a kill count on it

Jewels

Sorority Babes is so fucking bad its good!

Alex Clarke

Tammy and the T Rex has a part where Paul Walker’s brain is in a jar of jello and has an orgasm. It’s magical.

Mac Martin

I remember the ending to pieces being creepy as hell!

Dayne Holthaus

Tammy is inevitable! And why isn't Avengers on the list? Or John Wick!? ;-)

Evan Bolick

One cut of the dead was hella rad

Hanna Nicole

I think Ichi might be a bit too much for the kill count

Jayson

PLEASE, TAMMY AND THE T-REX ! That would be a dream come true!!

Nicole Parreira

Pieces! Haha what an awful movie....lets do it!

Craig M.

Came upon Behind the Mask years ago by accident, and I fell in love with it. Scott Wilson was a truly amazing actor

TheNerdyBassist

I'm not going to lie I picked these off of the crazy titles alone. I voted T-Rex and bowlerama!

A. Michael Liska

ICHI THE KILLER? You better find a sponsor for that one LOL
