Fun fact! In the original Japanese version of the game, Makoto never changes Chihiro’s pronouns, even after the reveal. Unfortunately, since Spike Chunsoft REALLY wanted to hammer in the discomfort of Chihiro’s whole secret, the School Mode final friendship event has Chihiro explicitly telling Makoto to refer to them with masculine pronouns, which is the only time Makoto does so. So oddly enough, Megumi Ogata’s version of Makoto is a little more trans accepting than the Bryce Papenbrook Makoto (not to put that on poor Mr. Papenbrook). Catching back up on Kill Counts, and call Chelsea the Blackened the way she killed this video!! I always enjoy seeing a new perspective on this game, especially when people actually enjoy the characters and story despite its very… questionable inclusions. Finally, I will say this: Chelsea (and Jeff?), this is EXACTLY what private school is like, coming from someone who got into DR bc it was too relatable to my high school life. I won’t elaborate on that, but it sure wormed its way into an odd place in my brain because of that!
