I have been asking all my friends to watch barbarian so we can analyze this movie. It wasn’t even my favorite but it was so interesting to me. It genuinely made my day when I realized that you had such a similar analysis to me. It often feels like vengeful sexism, where undeniably real dangers are put at the feet of all men to solve, and that men are then blamed for and/or suspected at in each situation. As much as I can admit the reality of womens fears, it just feels counter productive to be reductive about it in a way that makes men feel like there is no correct way to socially interact with women.
