Thanks for this. It was great to get your POV. I still haven't rewatched Halloween Kills. I was just really let down after being so excited for it. I may give another go at some point but glad to see I'm not crazy with some of my criticisms, 90% of which are from characters making stupid decisions. For what it's worth, I saw this with my boyfriend and neither of us were offended by straight actors cast as the Johns, nor how they portrayed the couple. That said, my answer will absolutely change based on which movie, role, actor, etc..... (I don't recall wording but Tom Hanks made a comment recently about him not being cast in Philidelphia if it was made today, and I think he's correct, no matter how brilliant he was in that role.). I don't recall who pointed it out so can't give credit but a really cool detail I heard is there was a bench in one scene that Tommy was standing in front of and it had the Johns' photo on it, so likely they are realtors? It would make sense that the house was likely sitting empty for years considering it was already run down and haunted when the murders happened in 78. I like to think they or their agency picked it up eventually for a super low price so they could renovate like crazy and maybe flip it for a boatload of money later. Just another one of those very excellent attention to detail moments, like the recreation of the original mask, and so many other scenes throughout this movie (and 2018). Also - I totally agree with Little John being the dull machete, but as cringe-inducing as Big John's stab & gouge was, the scene that haunted my sleep that night and gets my chainsaw was that poor lady with the lightbulb in her neck, bleeding out slowly while her hubby gets stabbed again....and again.....and again..... just horrific..

Tommy Doyle. I watched the original 78 a little while ago and got annoyed because I know he's growing up to be such an alpha douche later. I hadn't known about Rudd being offered the part until James mentioned, but that would have been great. I liked his Tommy.

Serious question. Have you ever considered getting like 6 weeks out in front on Kill Count episodes? Meaning making an announcement video telling everyone that there won't be any new episodes for the next 6 weeks because you want to get them all made and uploaded on YT with no problems. That way you can work on the next episodes that follow them with less pressure and get the bugs sorted out with them 6 weeks ahead of time as well. Just a suggestion as that is the move I would have made coming out of your previous hiatus state. Using a burner account to work out copyright issues with this strategy is honestly your best bet at this point. Maybe I should have sent this over 6 weeks ago... 🤔
